Styling red and black for a summer evening - fashion at 50

I hope you all had a nice Memorial Day celebration whatever you chose to do.  Today is a back to work day and the return to a normal (albeit short) weekly schedule.  At least there's only four days till the weekend, right?

I wanted to share with you this pretty tie neck blouse that I got on super duper clearance at Loft
(same and still on sale) a couple of weeks ago.

It is the prettiest shade of rich red (which I've been seeing more and more of lately) and is light weight enough to wear on a cool summer evening, but I think the colors will definitely lend themselves to a fall transition a few months down the road.

I love it when clothes have that kind of multi-season wear ability.  Today I am dressing it down with my favorite black curvy skinny jeans (similar) and chunky heeled black sandals (similar) but I could have paired it with dress pants and pumps if I'd wanted to make it more office or date night appropriate.

I kept the jewelry simple with my gold tone tassel necklace (similar) and pretty gold watch (same)
and bangle bracelets.  Just enough to add polish to the outfit without competing with the large scale print of the blouse.

I have been working hard at putting together my first wardrobe challenge of sorts.  I will be mixing ten staple pieces into ten different early summer outfits starting next Monday.  I have prepared a free wardrobe list (with photos of what I'll be styling) that will go out to my email subscribers this week.  I'm hoping you might even pull a few things out of your closet and play along with me.  I've done a challenge like this before through GYPO (which I would highly recommend if you've never done one before) and learned so much I thought I'd try a very scaled down version (with things that should be hanging in your closet or drawers) here on the blog.
