on trend with florals - fashion at 50

5/19/16

I love the soft colors of spring just as much the bright colors of summer.  So when I went looking in my closet for something to throw over this pretty swiss dot peplum from Old Navy (same and on sale) and my coral chinos from Loft, I immediately reached for this pink and coral cardigan (similar).

There is something about a pretty mix of pastel flowers that adds a romantic touch to even an
ordinary outfit.  Don't you agree?  And I love that floral prints are on trend for this summer.  I keep seeing them in blouses, dresses and scarves and I couldn't be happier.

I slipped on these white platform shoes before heading out to bible study and slipped quickly out of them when I walked back in afterward.  They are adorable and I like what they add to the outfit but they are definitely not something I would wear all day long.  A date night...yes, but for everyday I think my comfort zone is nothing higher than a couple of inches.

Isn't this top adorable?  I went back and forth at the store before I purchased it and now I'm so glad I did.  I have already worn it with shorts and I know I will wear it many more times this summer.

I added a pretty pale pink statement necklace that I found at a local thrift store last year for a couple of dollars and I think it's the perfect finishing touch.  I haven't been back there in a while and I'm thinking I need to head back soon.  I'll be sure and take my camera so that I can show you how easy it is to find fashion jewelry for a song if you're willing to look for it.

I keep encouraging you to try new things in fashion and life in general, but I guess I should warn you that some things won't go as well as you envisioned them.  Try not to let that discourage you.  Like my three inch platform shoes, just circle back home, modify and give it another try.  It's only in not trying that we are guaranteed to fail.

I wanted to take a minute and welcome any new viewers to my blog.  When I started posting fashion full time a couple of weeks ago I had no idea how it would resonate with all of you and I am thrilled to see it is.  If there is something you would like to see me style or any specific body challenges you would like me to address, please let me know.  This is first and foremost a place of encouragement and inspiration for the average, everyday woman.

And if you haven't joined my email list yet, I want to encourage you to do so as I have something special planned just for subscribers very soon.

xo, Patty

  1. Very cute outfit, I love the colors. I had to laugh about the shoes, I have a flats only comfort level most of the time too.

  6. Love that floral cardigan. I used to wear cardigan sweaters to work in the air conditioned office.. once I retired, I got rid of most of them thinking I wouldn't need them anymore.. but how wrong I was! Wish I would have hung onto them all. Now.... when I'm going "out" anywhere, instead of grabbing one of my old plaid flannel shirts, I find myself wearing a pretty pastel cardigan over a tank top or T-shirt.. it looks a little less dumpy than my flannel! I have a soft yellow one that I love, and a cream one with some designs up across the shoulders. These two are so great and wish I had kept my other ones. I love that there are some out there with the large floral prints... and I love that you link us up to sites that have what you are wearing or are at least similar to what you are wearing.

I would love to see what you could do with some striped capris or the ever so popular leggings that have wild prints on them! Even at 68, I love them!
