summer fashion series day ten - blue jeans and a black tee over 50

Hello Friday and hello my fellow fashion friends!  I can't believe how quickly these last two weeks have flown by.  If it's okay with you, I might just continue on for a while and see how it goes.

For the end of our summer fashion series I thought it would be only right to end in the same fashion (pun intended) as it began, with jeans and a T-shirt.

This time I opted to pair my distressed JCP jeans (similar) with a black Loft shirt.  This is such a
classic combo and one that can be dressed up or down depending on the shoes and accessories.

This time I went with my favorite silver bangle necklace, basic silver jewelry and my chunky black sandals (similar) from Kohls (which I've shown you several times already).  I love how versatile and comfortable these sandals are and know I will choose them time and time again until the weather turns cool in the fall.

If you are like me, most days that I don't have anywhere in particular to go I will throw on jeans and a tee and if I'm hanging out at home that might be as far as I go.  But I love how the addition of a couple of statement pieces of jewelry can have you ready to do a little shopping or lunch with friends in no time flat.

I did a little front tuck of my shirt to dress it up just a bit and show off this leather grommet silver buckle belt (similar) that I've had forever and to add a little definition to my waist.

Wouldn't you feel comfortable and stylish in this simple combination on most any day?  And the great thing about jeans and a T-shirt is that if I switched out the chunky shoes and big silver necklace for flat sandals and a colorful tassel necklace the outfit would be a totally different summer look.

I am having a hard time acknowledging summer is just around the corner.  I don't know about where you are but the kids around here only have two more weeks of school which is a good thing...for about three or four weeks.  Am I right?  It seems like right about then boredom, bickering and whining set in and the thought of dropping off, picking up and getting homework done doesn't sound half bad.

It can be so easy to let the struggles of family life make us wish time away.  This is true whether you have school age or adult children out of the home.  I think today's encouraging word would be to resist that urge.  Time passes so quickly and each season of life carries with it joys and sorrows. There is no escaping it.  Why not be thankful for the good, learn from the bad and strive to be a better person in spite of it all.  Trust me, I am preaching to the choir on this one.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks again for your encouraging comments I really appreciate them!

xo, Patty

  1. This has been my day to day uniform for a few years...minus the accessories. They really do make all the difference.

  3. Patty, Yes...continue your fashion blogs...if you do not feel up to day upon day of fashion shots...then maybe every time you get a new piece show how you work it into your wardrobe. I have enjoyed this feature very much. I once was very into fashion...but as the ability to wear cute shoes diminished , it was not so cute to wear sweet things and sneakers. LOL. I have always love black tees and jeans. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. I have enjoyed your fashion series immensely! I'm pretty simple when it comes to fashion...the older I get I do enjoy my jean capri's and tunics. You have definitely made me put a few statement necklaces on my list to get the next time I'm out and about....they really do dress up t-shirts!

  5. You do not even look 50, let alone over 50. Very cute outfit!

  6. Love the look... I have a couple of short sleeved black T's but always forget to wear them. I think this outfit lends itself wonderfully to turquoise jewelry! I have some but never wear it either! My bad. Of course, like Susie above, I can only wear flat shoes so that kind of discourages me from "dressing up" anything.... even flat sandals are not real dressy. I would love you to continue the series, even if maybe every other day or a couple of times a week. Love the partial tucked in look of the T shirt also. So cute.
