Early Summer Wardrobe Challenge -Ten Items/Ten Outfits
Day 8 - Shorts and Solid T-shirt
Let's be honest, there are some days when throwing on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt is as good as it's going to get. But that doesn't necessarily mean sloppy.
A pretty colored shirt and stylish shorts are just as easy to slip into as your old grubbies and if you find the right ones, they can be just as comfortable.
This blue Old Navy tee (same) (for a limited time use code extra for additonal 30%off) and grey
green Loft bermuda shorts (same) look great paired together. All I had to do was add a unique piece of jewelry like my pretty butterfly pendant necklace (similar feel), my basic watch (similar) and earrings (similar), and a cute pair of sandals (similar) and I could leave the house without worrying about who I might run in to. (Because you know if you leave the house in your cleaning and gardening clothes you will run into everyone you haven't seen in years, right?)
My philosophy is that if you are going to spend time in shorts or capris and a t-shirt you might as well buy some that are pretty and fit well. It's all a mind set. If I automatically associate comfy with sloppy then more often than not I will reach for those loose fitting unflattering clothes again and again. But if I take the time to shop for things that fit my body well and still feel comfortable, I can get rid of those old stand-bys and reach for the nicer clothes automatically.
The truth is, if you have to spend your money on clothes at some point...why not buy the cute ones?

I found a few comfortable yet stylish basic tops and capris bottoms that come in a variety of colors, in regular and plus sizes...

ReplyDeleteI had to laugh, I left the house with my hair in a messy pony the other day, no make up, at least my outfit was put together, and ran into someone I hadn't seen in years in the grocery store. Only when I don't look my best does that happen! Cute outfit, and it looks neat and pulled together without being fussy. Now if I could just get my hair to behave and put on some make up....
ReplyDeleteVery cute and love that shade of green. I've been looking for some, as it goes with just about anything.... I try to put decent clothes on in the morning when I get up, when I know I have to go "out and about" as just know I'll see someone I know when I have my grubbies on! always happens. I was out of town for a few days where there are lots of cute little shops, and found myself looking for necklaces! I never shop for jewelry... you have inspired me to wear a pretty necklace now and then!
