Early Summer Wardrobe Challenge -Ten Items/Ten Outfits
Day 7 - Skinny Jeans and Patterned Short Sleeve Top

We made it to Thursday in one piece and that feels like quite an accomplishment.  One more day and we have the whole weekend to look forward to and I for one am going to savor every minute of it.

Can you believe we are on day seven of this Early Summer Wardrobe Series?  I wasn't sure about today's outfit but as it turns out it is one of my favorites.  It has been a little cool in the mornings and
evenings here and a lightweight 3/4 sleeve cardigan (same) like this gorgeous blue one from Nordstrom is the perfect answer to the nip in the air.

Summer isn't when we usually think about wearing layers but early summer weather can be a bit unpredictable so a light outer layer makes sense.  Today I am pairing the sweater with my Loft skinny blue jeans (same) and the short sleeve pattern top (similar) and (similar).

As far as accessories go, I chose not to wear a necklace because I buttoned the top button of the sweater and I didn't feel like I needed anything else around my neck.  I did choose some pretty gold earrings and a watch to give it a polished look.  I think they provide a good balance to the busy pattern of the top.

I am wearing my cream colored platform sandals that I found last year at Kohls (similar).  They are super comfy and I really like the way they look with these curvy skinny jeans cuffed up.

For those of you that don't get my newsletter, I shared there that our 11 year old Bichon has been having a rough time of it and we were faced with the decision to put him down or continue to watch him deteriorate.  Tuesday morning he made the decision to pass away at home in my arms, just hours before his euthanasia was scheduled at the vet.

I have cried buckets of tears but am at peace with the knowledge that he died hearing me talk to him and is finally free of pain.  What a hard thing to watch as I'm sure many of you know.

Now we face trying to adjust to the loss of his loving presence in our home.  I know time is the only thing that will help now.  One day at a time...

xo, Patty

Here's a couple more outfits for keeping the chill away in the morning or evening but still allowing you to pare down when the heat of the day sets in.

  2. I'm very sorry to read about your dog, my sympathy to you. I wish we would have a bit of a chill in the morning, it has been unbearably hot & humid for the past week and the same is forecast for the next week. I'm looking forward to Autumn!

  3. Oh my gosh, Patty, I didn't know that your puppy passed away in your arms. I guess that should be a comfort to you because it really was time to let him go.

I like this outfit on you. Have fun in Oregon. I live in Washington State.....just across the bridge from Portland.

  4. I am so sorry about your dog, but glad that he died at home with you holding him. That has to be the gentlest way for him to go. I love the shirt and cardigan combo here. You look beautiful in those colors.
