Peplum top and jeans for summer - fashion at 50

It looks like summer is here according to the outdoor thermometer, whether we're ready for it or not. The temperatures around here have jumped by ten degrees in the last couple of days and the real heat won't be here until this weekend.  I have a feeling this is where the rubber meets the road as far as looking stylish and fashionable as the mercury rises.

Today I'm styling a charcoal peplum t-shirt from Loft (same).  I've shared the same top in white
before and really like the style and fit but I'm not sure I'm crazy about this color on me.  Maybe it's just the dark, loose fitting jeans (similar) I'm wearing with it but I'm not loving it.  I think I'll try it with a light bottom next time and see how I feel about it then.

I do like how the leopard flats (similar) and charm necklace (similar) I'm wearing with it look, so it's not a total wash out.

That is such a good lesson, not every outfit is going to be a winner.  Sometimes you feel so-so about what you're wearing and that's okay.  They're only clothes.  The day I take all of this too seriously or any other outward form of creativity is the day it's time to check my priorities.

Our creative outlets are supposed to be fun.  Don't you agree?  I was afraid when I started posting every day that it would be come more like a job and less like fun but so far it's the best of both worlds and I feel very fortunate.

I've joined a group of (younger) fashion bloggers for a summer shorts collaboration tomorrow.  I am going to bravely post an outfit featuring shorts representing the over 50 bunch...yikes!  Actually, now that I've found a couple of pairs that I don't hate, I can see myself wearing shorts more and more this summer as the temperatures rise.  I think my family is having a harder time adjusting to it than me.  Ha!  Ha!
