If today is August 1st...

8/1/12

If today is August 1st, then that means fall is only a month away.  That means the heat of summer will soon give way to the crispness of autumn...

The leaves will soon be changing...the pies will soon be baking...
The quilts and afghans will come out of storage and the tea kettle will soon be whistling...

The Olympics will be replaced with football...
Thoughts will turn to holidays and pumpkins and hearth and home...

If today is August 1st then the thermometer that will read into the 90's today will begin to dip into the 60's and 70's soon enough.

Instead of wishing this last glorious warm summer month away, I think I will go out, put the sprinkler on and pour myself a cup of iced tea and soak it all in.   Oh, in case you think I was kidding about nurturing myself all month, I began my month of pampering today by allowing myself to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock and I didn't roll out of bed until 7:30!  It felt so good...

I am joining Debbiedoos in her monthly copycat challenge.  This hint of Autumn pillow is actually a three copy cat combination found here  at Bee in my bonnet and here  at Happy Little Cottage and here at Clover and Violet.

Thank you ladies for your inspiration and thanks Debbie for hosting such a fun party and for reminding us that copying really is the best form of flattery.

I've also joined in the creative fun with Jennifer Rizzo for Fabulously Creative Friday!

  7. I had to laugh when I read that you were going outside to turn on the sprinkler and have some tea...obviously Lemon Lane Cottage is not located in Oklahoma! heh heh! We are on our 10th day of 111 degree temps with an endless stretch of 110-112 days ahead. Thanks for reminding me that there is an end in sight and that fall will be coming soon! Love your pillow and your blog!

  9. What a great fall pillow. Love the colors. Fall doesn't come early here, and it still looks like Fall at Christmas time here. By Christmas I want those leaves off the trees.... which they never are. Take care!

  24. I think this was a great reminder to me to enjoy the day at hand. I absolutely adore fall and spend time wishing for it when I should be grateful for the {hot and humid} summer. Thanks for the gentle nudge. :)

  25. With the weather in the 100's, I'm so looking forward to the crisp coolness of fall. Your pillow is so inspiring. I have been wanting to do the Great Granny along, but just can't find the time. But a pillow is doable and it is now on my must do list. Glad you are remembering to pamper yourself. I've been doing a little too much of that lately...
