My good friend Elaine over at Sunny Simple Life is throwing a party...a linky party that is, and it couldn't be any simpler to join in (pun intended). There is no special talent, theme or reason to post, just a simple "hi, y'all" kind of party. Doesn't that sound simple enough? It's called Sunny Simple Sundays.
So, on to my simple post...
I took Bear to the groomers this morning and couldn't help but notice the abundance of garage sale signs in the neighborhood. What kind of thrifter would I be if I didn't stop at one or two?
I found these two wooden children's chairs and was able to snag the pair for $5.00. Pretty cool. huh?
I pulled over just up the road when I spotted this old metal wheelbarrow in the yard...
The man was asking $5.00 but all I had in my purse were three ones, so I offered him that...
He said, "make it four"...
I told him I only had three and some change on the bottom of my purse...
He said, "I'll take it." So for $3.78, I walked off with this cool, rusty, worn out metal wheelbarrow. As I was walking away he hollered after me, "Now you won't be able to use that as a wheelbarrow because it's all rusted out."
I just smiled in response...my mind had already placed that old wheelbarrow in my garden with the bottom painted a bright color and filled with blooms. Rusted out is just what I wanted.
Enjoy your Sunday.
xo, Patty
Patty,
ReplyDeleteI'm smiling...we have one in our garden here on the Prairie...it came with the house!!! I'll be anxious to see how you use yours @ Lemon Lane Cottage! Those little chairs are just precious!!! Have a great weekend, dear friend!
Fondly,
Pat
The white chair is pretty with the white pot and blue flowers (lobelias?) and the wheelbarrow will be a nice garden accent.
ReplyDeleteLove the children's chairs...and I LOVE that the old codger didn't tell you it was rusted out (and in his mind not worth a plug nickel) until you were walking away- I have a fairy garden in my rusted old wheelbarrow- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGreat buys, the adorable chairs and of course, the wheelbarrow! You will fill it up perfectly! xo
ReplyDeleteAh, my friend, you garage sale the same way I do!!! What a great find, and I can just see it in your garden!!! I love the childrens chairs too!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood shoppah!!!!!
XO Kris
Hey Patty - check out my blog. I got an old wheelbarrow myself this year. Didn't get as good a deal as you did but I smile every time I look at it.
ReplyDeleteLove all 3 great buys...especially the olden wheelbarrow. I am looking for one, too. :))
ReplyDeletePatty you are the biggest sweet heart. Thanks for the mention. I have the same rusty wheel barrow and use it for Quinn's sand box. Perfect height and she can just stand and no sand in the pants and shoes.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures on this post! They are so beautiful!! Your blog always makes me feel relaxed and peaceful!! :) Great post!!
ReplyDeletelovely finds and incredibly priced too. Can just see that barrow filled with flowers.x
ReplyDeletePlease excuse me while I covet that wheelbarrow! It is perfect. He didn't realize that you could really 'use it'. It's a guy thing. I love the chairs too. I'm looking for something similar to put together a little kitchen set for the grandbaby. I've a couple years to look! And you got flowers! :D
ReplyDeleteDeb
That wheelbarrow was a great buy for $3.78 . . . I can see it perfectly in my garden . . . I'll give you five . . .
ReplyDeleteLove your thrifty finds. I just painted my old wheelbarrow red...love it! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Have a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh I would be thrilled to find the wheelbarrow!
ReplyDeleteLove the chairs. That wheelbarrow is perfect. Glad he let you have it for the change. It will look great with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove it and what a bargain!!
ReplyDeleteLove your garage sale finds. Do you plan to plant in the wheelbarrow?
ReplyDeleteI would not have thought of planting flowers in an old wheelbarrow but when mine finally wears out (it's well on its way) I can now see a new life for it. I'll look forward to seeing the "makeover". Have a lovely Sunday, Patty.
ReplyDelete-Karen
Great bargain!
ReplyDeletegood eye... I like the child's seats too.
I JUST got a similar wheelbarrow, mine is rusted and yellow...I planted strawberries in it last week. I'm hoping the 'rusty holes' in mine make for better drainage for the strawberries than where I had them planted before.

What a deal!!! I love it all!!
ReplyDeleteI think that men think that we women are a little crazy when we buy rusted and worn out things.. lol.
Happy Sunday
Patty,
ReplyDeleteReally good buy on all of the above. I have an old wheelbarrow too, all iron, even the wheel. Picked it up by the side of the road years ago. I fill it with flowers every year. The little chairs are so cute, they are hard to resist.

ReplyDeleteToo funny about the man not telling you about the rusted out wheelbarrow!:) Little did he know that you already had it in use before you bought it.:)
ReplyDeleteYour wheelbarrow is fabulous as well as the chairs! I never see such wonderful items as you have found at yard sales.... I am a bit jealous!
