Monday morning coffee on the porch

6/11/12

It is such a nice morning I decided to have my coffee out on the front porch.  The neighborhood is still quiet except for the chirps of the birds and the sound of the sprinklers preparing the lawn for the heat of the afternoon.

I am trying to enjoy the moment because I know today will be a busy one.  Monday's usually are.  I guess because I am feeling refreshed from the weekend, my to do list seems inviting and not daunting.   Ask me on Thursday and my attitude may have done a 180 degree turn.

I managed to get my wheelbarrow painted yesterday so after I get things done around the house I want to head out to the garden center and pick up some soil and flowers to plant in it. I painted the bottom a bright turquoise that I think will liven up a corner of the garden that I've just started to plan out.  Sometimes it takes an unlikely catalyst to get me going on a new project.  Are you the same way?

This weeks topic for our housekeeping series is the laundry room, so part of my work today will be emptying mine out...it's actually a laundry closet so it's not as major as it sounds.  I have to get to the post office and mail some packages, make a few appointments and re-hang the freshly laundered valance in the kitchen.  See, I told you...busy, busy, busy.  What's on your schedule today?

"Who is in charge of your life? If it is you, then you have good reason to worry.  But if it is I, then worry is both unnecessary and counterproductive  When you start to feel anxious about something, relinquish the situation to Me.  Back off a bit, redirecting your focus to Me.  I will either take care of the problem Myself or show you how to handle it.  In this world you will have problems, but you need not lose sight of Me."  Sarah Young, Jesus Calling

Planning is important but hold those plans loosely, don't be rattled by interruptions and detours, trust the One in charge.

  1. Good morning Patty. I can't wait to see the wheelbarrow. I am afraid that I won't be doing much today. I have a cold and will just be taking it easy.
    Have a great day!

  2. Could not wait to tell you today that I tackled the pantry this weekend. I gave it a good scrubbing and threw away SO MUCH outdated stuff. I had many items in excess that I pick up routinely at the grocery store. I also found that I am out of some staples.

I am really enjoying your series. :)

  4. I love your mushroom candle holders. Where did you find them? Can't wait to see your wheelbarrow. Have fun planting that! Not much on my list today. I would love to sit and read my book, but seems I always find something that stops me from doing that. Love your pictures as always!

  7. On my agenda is some laundry and general housecleaning. Your "unlikely catalyst" comment is timely, Patty. I put my blog on Facebook a week ago, on a bit of a whim. This weekend I had an idea about how to use it so HAD to prep a post about that for tomorrow. And so it goes! Laundry; I'll get on it now. :)
Can't wait to see your wheelbarrow!

  10. Hi Patty...
Looks like a wonderful way to start the day, and a fresh new week.

I got up at 4:00 am, trying to get a jump start on my day.
Here it is noon, and I still have much to do.
Not too worried though... things always wait~~LOL!

    Have a wonderful week!

  11. I always feel refreshed after the weekend. Feel like I can do it all. But then midweek I realize I can't. It's a vicious cycle. It's 9:20 pm here, our day is almost done. Just a few more days and my summer holiday will begin. Have a great rest of the day. Tammy

  14. Wish I'd read this first thing this morning just to remind me to make adjustments where needed. I've been grocery shopping. I had my tea on the porch early also, was able to enjoy a soft rain moving through. Your coffee cup is quite colorful and pretty. Mine has snowmen on it. I think I could use a new mug! :D
    Great post, nice porch!

I enjoyed my coffee this morning out on the back porch too, with my devotionals. Wonderful way to start the week....
Your coffee cup is looking good!
Mondays are busy...ran to Aldi, Walmart, doctor's office, and the like. Got some phone calls and laundry out of the way.
    Great start to the week.

  25. Its a rainy day in Baltimore so we are attacking a very messy, very filled, 13 year Olds closet today. Add lots of laundry to that and a delivery trip to the goodwill.
Cant wait to see the wheelbarrow! Enjoy your coffee!

  26. Just your short line about the sprinklers preparing the lawn evoked a flash of sensory memories going back to my youth and 40 years since then - ah, summertime!
