welcoming home a sailor

I haven't shared with you what a wonderful time I had in San Diego last week welcoming my son in law home after his deployment.

There is something about being surrounded by brave men and women as they return home to their loved ones that brings a lump to your throat and a swell in your heart.  



I cannot even imagine what it must be like to greet the one you love after eight months apart. 



My sweet Emily was so happy to see her daddy (and so was her mommy). 


I don't think she left his arms for a day and a half.  The look on both their faces was just priceless.


The happy family is settling into a routine and doing fantastic.  Thank you all for your well wishes and love.

    These photos are priceless...the emotion conveyed in all of them is unbelievable. How that little girl loves her daddy and vice versus. I am thankful he is home safe and sound. Being a retired military wife I know how that is.

    Scenes like that bring tears to my eyes. I know exactly how that feels, being a retired Navy (20 years) family. Sweet photos!

    Such a heartwarming welcome home. My son served two tours overseas.....each almost one year. It is so hard, as you know. God Bless him for serving. Emily is beautiful.

    OH Patty, what sweet pictures of their reunion! Little Emily looks so happy to see her daddy! :) So precious.
    How have you been sweet girl? I have missed talking to you SO much...well typing anyway! lol I'm so behind on my blog reading that I don't I'll ever catch up! I've been working on my dining room non-stop this summer, and haven't had time to do much else. (except for an occasional swim and picnic with my boy!) ;-)
    Hope you're having a blessed summer!

    What precious photos. My stepson is stationed in Hawaii. Still trying to swallow that lump in my throat. 1st grandbaby is on the way. His ship is the Abraham Lincoln.

    Precious photos!!! I adore the final one where little Emily protrays,"Safe in my Daddy's Arms"! Brings back the memory of "Mr. Ed" returning home at KCI airport during his last unaccompained tour of Service before his retirement. He questioned where our oldest son was after hugging me and our youngest son. My reply with tears and smiles was, "Look up"! Our oldest son had grown taller than his Father the year of his absence! What a treasured memory in our family!!! So~o~o glad your daughter and family have been happily re~united...God bless them all!

    Beautiful pictures. But if your SIL reads this he will tell you he is a Sailor, not a soldier. Trust me. I am a Marine wife.
    I am not trying to be smart alecy or critical but our military members are proud of their branches.

    The most precious pictures..I can't imagine either...I have waited for someone before but in a different circumstances.. I waited a year and that was difficult...Sweet sweet pictures...have a great new week with love Janice

    These pictures are heartwarming, having a family member such as son, daughter or father or mother living for deployment will make you sad and also very joyful when these men come home as heroes of our nations.
