Am I the only one who stayed up way too late watching the Olympics? What dedication those athletes have to the years and years of training it takes to compete at that level and what heart break to come up just a little short of your lifetime dream.
I know I'm just happy when I finish a project I started, let alone achieve that kind of goal. It takes a special personality to stick with it the way those Olympians do.
I was lucky enough to spend some time behind my sewing machine and I did manage to finish the baby quilt I started last week. It feels good to add it to my list of completed projects.
I worked on my granny squares as well (they are quite addictive once you get started). I even started a new batch of them with some new Fall fabric I bought last week.
I jotted a few things down on my calendar that I'd like to accomplish, but overall I have one of those weeks that won't require me to leave the house for more than a few errands. It's been a while since that's been the case and I am looking forward to it.
I also started a list of things to do to pamper myself next month. How do you relax when life gets a little too stressful? I'd love to hear your suggestions....while a trip to Hawaii sounds wonderful, remember, I am on a budget so keep that in mind.
xo, Patty
Hi Patty,
ReplyDeleteLove the baby quilt! Did you stitch in the ditch? Love the bias binding too!
Hey, have you ever been to Glen Ivy before? It is out by me, and such a wonderful place to pamper oneself!! Wouldn't it be fun if we could plan on going one day in August? I would have to secure babysitting, but it is a possibility.
XO Kris
Hi Patty! Your baby quilt is so adorable!! I've been staying up watching the Olympics and working on projects. Quilting is my "Olympic sport"! :) I will miss them when they are over!
ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! Your baby quilt is adorable, dear friend!!! I know it will become a treasured gift, indeed!!! Relazing from stress...good classical piano music, favorite magazines and home decor books, cup of tea, a nosh and putting my feet up or reclining on the bed surrounded by tons of soft fluffy pillows!!! EnJOY!
Fondly,
Pat
What a beautiful quilt! I wish it was cool enough to curl up under one. Wish I was so talented..just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet quilt! I have a few projects started around our home. But, with the heat we've had it is hard to stay motivated. When it's cool in the morning hours, I have been putzin' around the house tweaking spaces. Right now I am working on "my space". Making it just right for me!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is just precious! I wouldn't know what to do to relax myself, so I won't be handing over any advice on that one!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet quilt!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I always stay up way too late watching the Olympics too!
I usually destress by taking photos, but I don't have much of anything to take photos of from my vantage point in my bed! That quilt is a real beauty! Hey, I'm having my first ever party starting later today. Tweak It Tuesday. You can link anything you've "tweaked." Go read for more. I'd be honored if you'd join.

I would love to put up a wall tent of my own. However, it's not in the budget. I love to go camping and get away from electronics to relax. However, it's been too hot to tent camp here lately.
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty---love the fabric and colors and that block is one of my favorites. I find it just sooooo inviting in it's simplicity. :)
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done. The colors are so pretty together.
ReplyDeleteAs for that relaxing thing, one of my favorite things to do, whenever I'm needing a break from life, is to head to a nearby Barnes & Noble. I splurge on a cup of coffee, or glass of iced-tea, then gather a few books around me and escape. The great thing about such places is you don't have to purchase a book to browse through them. Love that they are generous like that.
Patty what a beautiful quilt...I so love it. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletePatty, the quilt is lovely. I soak in the bath tub then give myself a pedicure and paint my toenails an outrageous color. Right now they are Kelly Green. xoxo, olive
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy quilt!
ReplyDeleteSo, when life gets too busy, too stressful...I give myself permission to exit the nearest ramp. Usually all roads lead back to my farm.....the best therapy for me is playing with kittens.

This is just precious...and yes, the Olympics seem to inspire
ReplyDeletewow!!! cute quilt..
ReplyDeleteDarling quilt..No, I stayed up way too late last night..I feel as though the female gymnasts are part of my family..I guess I've been following them for awhile...Amazing what a few 10ths of a seconds can mean..
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this! The colors, the style.....just love it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure that adorable quilt is. Relax, me??? I had Sunday morning all to myself at my daughter's second home at the coast. I sat drinking coffee, crocheting, looking at a magazine and watching the Olympics all at the same time. I managed to do this for 2 1/2 hours before the restless set in. I think I've been on the go or a dozen projects going on I'm finding it hard to just sit. So for now relax is not in this body!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. Definitely staying up too late watching the Olympics. It's so intense, isn't it? My best destresser is a pedicure. I feel so pampered when I get one.
ReplyDeleteI am so loving this baby quilt! And I too am staying up way too late watching all these wonderful athletes. Have a great week! Kit
ReplyDeleteCute quilt. I love those colors together. I too have been staying up too late to watch the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteBut I keep my handwork basket close by to work on. I will be watching to see what ideas you have or get from others to pamper yourself. I usually, sew or read. If I want to go out, I have lunch with friends, spend time in my favorite quilt store or some antiquing. I would love some ideas too.
Beautiful quilt. I love new and old quilts. I have a few my great grandmother made. Those stay packed away as they have been used and fraying. I just like to sit in silence when things get too hectic. Thinking or letting myself go blank. Funny the older I get I can let my mind fade away.
