a change in the air

Every so often I get the urge to change things around here at home.   Maybe it's my way of wishing Autumn's early arrival, but I find my decorating taste pulling away from strictly cottage style and more toward rustic farmhouse.

Richer tones...golden yellows and warm reds with a sprinkling of blacks as a neutral have found their way into Lemon Lane Cottage.

That's why when I found this rustic box with worn out hinges at Home Goods, I just knew I needed to bring it home with me.

Once I had it in my cart, I couldn't resist this beautiful rooster and little red farmhouse pitcher to complete the vignette.

I know, I know...I am supposed to be editing and purging not finding and splurging.  But it really has been a long time since I bought anything new and these will set the tone perfectly in my dining room.

Does it sound like I'm doing a little justifying?  Well, maybe a little...

xo, Patty

  1. I think your little vignette is charming. I so love Autumn too. xx

  2. That's a pretty vignette! I love that rooster.

  3. I bought a little white rooster a few weeks ago. Love yours along with the red :-)

  4. Cute! I've neer been to home goods.

I have 2 REAL roosters! Only problem is- they are supposed to be hens!

  5. Patty, I love your vingette! I'm still trying to figure out what my style is exactly, and I think it varies a little from room to room, haha! My living room is all about rich, warm tones, but my bedrooms are more light and soft.
I really LOVE HomeGoods...we just got a new one about 10 minutes away from me. It's kind of dangerous actually! ;)
    Blessings to you,

  6. I'm in trouble, I love how you put this all together. My saving race is I don't have a Home Goods store close. I'm like you adding more farmhouse to my cottage. I need the richer colors.

  7. oops! Saving Grace, Geez, you would think I could type!!!

  8. Patty, I love the colors and your rooster!! I have a few roosters in my kitchen...they make me smile. So many memories of my grandparents old farm years ago! I love fall too and this year I am especially looking forward to it bec this heat is suffocating!!

    XOXO Carolyn

  9. I love your new purchases. I know what you mean about making a few changes. I think we all need that sometimes. Justifying? hehehe

  10. Patty,
Love that your decor is evolving to add more color! I use a LOT of red, gold and sage greens here on the Prairie! Darling box and it makes an adorable vignette!!! Appears perfect to bridge the gap between Summer and Fall!

  11. Oh- I love it, Patty. I am supposed to be purging, too....I love all the colors of Fall but I am not quite ready......yet- xo Diana

  12. Hi Patty!
    Love the new finds!
What a cute rooster, and I actually have that same little pitcher..only in green (a gift), and I love it!

I think it's adorable that you put everything together on that great old chair that you kept!

    Smiles :)

  13. Oh I love that pitcher and that gorgeous Rooster. I too find myself drawn to the Farmhouse style especially as we get ready to remodel our kitchen. I think it is timeless really and never goes out of style.

  14. The pitcher is beautiful. I would fill it with Black Eyed Susan's.

  15. Your blog is a delight in so many wonderful ways! Your home is so welcoming and cozy.
Your expressions of your strong faith are an inspiration and encouragement!
Your eye for color...(Red is my very favorite)is so lovely!
I'm so glad I found your blog...Thanks to my sweet friend Julie at "Tale of A Toadstool".
I hope you have a blessed week, my new friend!
I, too, love Beth Moore! She is truly a woman with a heart after God!

  16. this little vignette is very charming.. i love to have the rooster.. :)

  17. Hi Patty..Love the colors...I have a beautiful Rooster that my husband bought me long ago..Hmm, may be a post some day..

  18. I love reds and yellows too. I've been adding roosters lately also:)

  19. For me it's fresh cut flowers. I have a store that I can come home with 6 roses for 3.99. I can come home with 12 roses for 8 bucks. It adds a lovely touch to anyplace I place i want and a smile on my face.
    Your choices are great.

  20. I want that rooster, it is just darling. I have the same pitcher in the yellow gold tone. Great vignette:)

  21. I am new to your blog and it is refreshing. Thank you for sharing. I think your new additions are lovely. And you have such a nice way of putting it all together.

  22. I know what you mean Patty about changing things around. Can't decide if its the change of seasons or to much coffee.

  23. I love your little vignette! We don't have a Home Goods store near us. That might be a good thing :)
My style is rather eclectic...farmhouse, country and cottage all rolled into one! I just can't make up my mind which I like best.
I am so ready for Autumn. We are experiencing another drought and it is so hard to keep everything green and alive.

  24. I love your decorating style ...
I am adding you to my sidebar links..
    Hope it fine with you...
