a change in the air

7/25/12

Every so often I get the urge to change things around here at home.   Maybe it's my way of wishing Autumn's early arrival, but I find my decorating taste pulling away from strictly cottage style and more toward rustic farmhouse.

Richer tones...golden yellows and warm reds with a sprinkling of blacks as a neutral have found their way into Lemon Lane Cottage.

That's why when I found this rustic box with worn out hinges at Home Goods, I just knew I needed to bring it home with me.

Once I had it in my cart, I couldn't resist this beautiful rooster and little red farmhouse pitcher to complete the vignette.

I know, I know...I am supposed to be editing and purging not finding and splurging.  But it really has been a long time since I bought anything new and these will set the tone perfectly in my dining room.

Does it sound like I'm doing a little justifying?  Well, maybe a little...

xo, Patty

  5. Patty, I love your vingette! I'm still trying to figure out what my style is exactly, and I think it varies a little from room to room, haha! My living room is all about rich, warm tones, but my bedrooms are more light and soft.
I really LOVE HomeGoods...we just got a new one about 10 minutes away from me. It's kind of dangerous actually! ;)
    Blessings to you,

  6. I'm in trouble, I love how you put this all together. My saving race is I don't have a Home Goods store close. I'm like you adding more farmhouse to my cottage. I need the richer colors.

  10. Patty,
Love that your decor is evolving to add more color! I use a LOT of red, gold and sage greens here on the Prairie! Darling box and it makes an adorable vignette!!! Appears perfect to bridge the gap between Summer and Fall!

  13. Oh I love that pitcher and that gorgeous Rooster. I too find myself drawn to the Farmhouse style especially as we get ready to remodel our kitchen. I think it is timeless really and never goes out of style.

  14. The pitcher is beautiful. I would fill it with Black Eyed Susan's.

  19. For me it's fresh cut flowers. I have a store that I can come home with 6 roses for 3.99. I can come home with 12 roses for 8 bucks. It adds a lovely touch to anyplace I place i want and a smile on my face.
    Your choices are great.

  23. I love your little vignette! We don't have a Home Goods store near us. That might be a good thing :)
My style is rather eclectic...farmhouse, country and cottage all rolled into one! I just can't make up my mind which I like best.
I am so ready for Autumn. We are experiencing another drought and it is so hard to keep everything green and alive.
