a busy July

7/18/12

I am off in a bit to pick up my little sister and nephew from the airport and then it's off for a couple of days visit with my mom.  A little more unpacking and settling in, a good bottle of wine or two and some wonderful conversation are sure to be a part of this mini reunion.

Yesterday Andrew and I spent a sun filled (peaceful...hee, hee) day with Kris (of Simplicity) and her grandson and Elaine (Sunny Simple Life) and her cute daughter at Kris' house.  It was a perfect kid combination, no fussing or fighting...wonderful food, a delicious pasta salad with fresh yummy watermelon...and healthy (smile) oatmeal cranberry cookies for dessert.

I can't believe how fast July is flying by.  It has been a busy month so far and it doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon.  I did manage to get a little bit of sewing done over the weekend.  I have joined the group over at the Great Granny Along and have started a new throw quilt for my bedroom redo.  This is such a fun block to make and I can't wait to get back in front of my sewing machine to put together a few more.

I think the colors in this Fig Tree fabric will go perfectly with the thrift store vintage sheets I bought in the Spring.

This will definitely be an August or even September project, when things slow down a bit.  I love having projects in the wings.

What's in the works for you in the next month or two?

xo, Patty

  1. Patty, it sounds like y'all had a perfect day together! That's great you live so close. Love the quilt you're making! I wish I was better as sewing myself. I'm going to be painting a couple of small tables for around the house. I'm hoping it will give them new life, and they'll pop in the rooms I place them in. I'm excited!

  4. I love the fabrics in your quilt blocks! I almost joined to make those blocks but MADE myself stop and try to finish some of the ufo's I have going. It's to the embarrassing point of wondering if my kids will call Hoarders and try to get me featured! Thanks for sharing. Your photos are beautiful.

  7. I've always wanted to try quilting. Maybe in the fall I'll give it a try. I'm working on areas of my yard that got out of hand, including a crumbling deck back at the riverfront. Almost finished that one! ~ Maureen

  8. Patty,
What lovely prints in your quilt blocks! I've been looking for a new throw for my new sofa...those would be gorgeous colors!!! Projects...Hm~m~m...one I began a year ago is now in the second stage since my "retirement". Not enough time was always an issue before. Even "Mr. Ed" has given a few suggestions this time around(Ha!). Hopefully, I'll be ready to post the "project" in its completion come September!!! Have an enjoyable time with your family and visit with your MoM!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  9. The quilt is so pretty. I could not comment yesterday as I traveled to our old house where I am now and our internet service is slow. I wanted to tell you your daughter's family is so sweet and God Bless that young man for his service. hugs, olive

  12. Sounds like fun time. Enjoy your time with your Mom, sis and nephew.
I remember you showing us those fabrics for your bedroom. Such rich colors. Love your Great Granny squares. I am so tempted to try those. Looks like fun. Time is flying for me too. Since we are still in the desert, I have been staying inside sewing. Your playdate with blogging friends sounded fun too.

  17. I love how the blue overlaps in the middle. My mother-in-law quilted. I didn't do a good job at the one I worked on. Folded it up and put it up in the attic. Just lovely.
