Spring is in the air

2/18/12

Where did this week go?  Sorry it's been so long since my last post.  I can't believe the weekend is here again already.  I am really starting to enjoy both my retirement and our empty nest.  Who knew you could clean house on Tuesday and it would still look spiffy on Saturday?

While I still get a little lonely at times, I can honestly say I am loving my life right now.  Thank you for praying for me during this time of transition.

I hope you don't mind me showing you a couple of little dresses I put together this week.  I have fallen in love with my sewing machine again and just can't seem to pull myself out of my studio.

I hope to clean up all the strings and restore order in there this weekend.  It promises to be a sunny couple of days and I want to take some pictures of the whole studio to share with you.  I was smart enough to take before pictures this time so you will really be able to see the transformation.

Besides sewing, I went to see The Descendants with two of my BFF's this week (aside from George Clooney, it was a hard movie to sit through) and I have finally finished reading Ann Voskamp's "one thousand gifts" nearly one year after I started it.  I think God knew that I would need it more now than earlier and he held it for this time in my life on purpose.  It has been transforming.  If you haven't read it, find a copy and be blessed.

My oldest daughter is in town and is taking me to lunch and to see "The Vow" today, so you can see it's been a very full week.

I am so thankful for what I have, not focusing on what is gone, looking forward to what's to come and exceedingly full of joy and it feels wonderful.

Spring is definitely in the air.

  3. I lovey our attitute and your those darling dresses. We too are retired and so enjoying the time we get to spend being grandparents. I totally agree with the whole clean house thing. But when it is messy, no one else to blame but ourselves. Blessings to you.

  8. Good stuff there Patty. We too, will be empty nesters, once again, after the 24th. Although, cleaning one day, only to find the house still clean a few days later, will not be happening here. I have my little guy every day, m-f, and he is terror! Not really, only in a very good way.
Enjoy your lunch with your daughter. Who is the lucky little lady to receive those sweet dresses?

  16. I remember in high school, I went to your house so you could help a friend sew her drill team outfit. At 17, you were so patient and talented in my eyes. Through the years, your gift just shines more and more. I love seeing all the beautiful things you create and sew. I am one of many who are touched by your lovely heart and hands. The dresses are so sweet!!

Amazing that when the stress of employment is gone the creativity begins to overflow! Those dresses are darling!!! Enjoy your time in the Studio! I did the same thing today...instead of fabric...I used paper! Ha!

  19. It takes time for adjustments to take place and to change the way you have been doing things and it seems as though you are doing it beautifully. The little dresses are too cute! And I love the fabrics you chose. Looking forward to seeing the changes you have made to your studio (I need to do the same). How gracious God is to give us the things we need when HE knows we need them. :) Hugs....
