order restored

1/3/12

I spent yesterday day finishing off my cleaning and packing away the very last of the holiday decorations.  Looking around Lemon Lane Cottage it feels like an old friend has returned.  Life is winding back to normal and it's easy to fall in step with the quiet comfort that this old house brings.

Of course, I have a million and one plans running through my mind of what needs to be done in each room and what I want to accomplish in the weeks and months ahead.  First and foremost is to finish painting the spare room upstairs that is to become my personal space.  I can't wait to restore order in there and promise to share the progress once it looks like progress has been made.  Right now it is just a jumble of discarded furniture, bits of torn down wallpaper and half painted walls.

For now, it's enough to just sit on the floor amidst the mess and place the furniture in my mind once again...dreaming is half the fun anyway.  Don't you agree?

  1. It always take some dreaming and noodling before starting a big project! Have fun creating your new space!

  3. Did you read my mind or what!? I feel the exact same way when I get all of the holiday decorations put away... like an old friend is back!

And "dreaming & planning" should be my middle names :)

  4. I so agree - I did some "order-restoring" yesterday myself and it feels good to get back to normal again. I'm looking around my house, too, to see what needs to be done, changed, improved upon (on a budget of course). Sometimes, just moving things around that you already have works perfectly! Can't wait to see your new workspace - wish I had room for one!

  5. Oh yes, to dream is to dance!! However, I have no shame, and have shown several photos of my partial progress in the spare bedroom that is the guest/play room!

  8. I have some remodeling plans as well. Starting with removing wallpaper from my kitchen. Do you reccomend an easy way to do this?

  9. Your path of restoring order is similar to mine. I have recently taken back a den and made it my craft room.

Seems like the first month of the new year is a start for us all.

    Happy New Year.

  11. This post reminds me of my little upstairs studio. I still need to find more cute shelves and storage systems. Right now...it's a hot mess. I can picture it though. And that's the first step.
    Enjoy!

  12. Lemon Lane Cottage,
Sounds as if your dreaming often turns to plans with a purpose! My creative space, named Studio One, is in the unfinished portion of our lower level. I'll be watching for the process as you post and applaud your finished reveal!
    Fondly,
    Pat

I'm great with the planning, just a little lacking in seeing it fulfilled!

  19. Thank you for your lovely comment,
you have inspired me to start putting things in order but I can not take down the decorations until after Jan 6th "Oiche na Mban"
(Little womens Christmas) traditionally a day where women folk did no house work at all, so I will go with that belief!

    Best wishes

  20. I am still in the midst of getting everything put away but I can't help but look ahead and 'dream' of the plans I have for the new year. Where's the fun if we can't dream? :)
Looking forward to seeing what you do with YOUR space.
btw, I love your little lamp!!

  21. How fun is planning your own space. Looking forward to seeing what you are up too. I know what you mean about the feeling you get about having your house back after the decorations are put away.
