One of the nicest things about a major reorganization is finding forgotten treasures and grouping them all together to form a beautiful new collection.
I hadn't realized what a bounty I've acquired of vintage embroidery and lace until I gathered them into this pretty red bucket.
I wouldn't have noticed how pretty all this old hand embroidery looks stashed in amongst my vintage sheets.
One things for sure, they won't be stashed again...they won't be stored willy nilly, here and there. I already have plans to use them dancing in my head.
Once I get this room put back together, I can start using them to embellish pretty things and hopefully, help others appreciate their delicate lacy beauty and honor the women who created them.
I love hand embroidery! I still have a pillowcase my Mama embroidered for me when I was a little girl. :)
ReplyDeleteLast night I placed a glorious vintage table cloth on my table in my craft room (yes girl, I can finally see the table now..yahooo). I found it while at my mom's. You see, not only am I organizing my home but my mom's at the same time. So here we found a load full of beautiful embroidered items, plus so many other wonderful goodies...
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful collection there! I adore hand embroidery!
ReplyDeletepretties. just lovely collection. i enjoy organizing. it's amazing what you can find. (:
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm new to your blog and wanted to say Hi. I have quite a bit of vintage crocheted and lacy pieces also. Probably folded up here and there, not to be seen or appreciated. You have displayed them nicely!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful collection. I'm doing a bit of furniture moving in my craft/office and it's not going very well... (smile). I'm still figuring out what's the best layout for all that I want to do in this room. It's not exactly working yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find. I can't wait to see how you will use them.
ReplyDeleteYes I too find things I forgot I had...how bad! love the vintage linens.

CONGRATS on being featured in RH!!!!! I got my issue and was thrilled to see you in it. HOW FUN!
xx
Just think of the hours and hours of work that went into those. It is good that they live with you where they are appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI have a real weakness for vintage linens. I have enough linen napkins to supply a banquet hall but just can't let any of them go! Your's are lovely! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteLoving all those old vintage colors from my childhood.
ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeleteLovely vintage linens, dear! I adore how you've grouped them together! I could just dive head first into that red bucket of vintage lace on your linens! Did I ever tell you that vintage (antique) linens were the FIRST items from Antique Shops & Flea Markets that I began collecting? I still have a huge collection that I can't bear to part with!!! I'd say your "studio" is shaping up rather nicely!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh what wonderful finds...I have some of those things tucked away too...and I need to use them on just the right project!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you have planned, I have a stack of vintage goodies too and I'm looking for inspiration:>)
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful collections. I'm curious to see what you do with the embroidered ones. I have a lot stashed away and can't bring myself to use it.(Well, I would have to find it first.)LOL

ReplyDeleteSometimes de-cluttering is like a gift to yourself-you find all kinds of treasures you had forgotten about!
What a lovely set of pictures. I too am setting up and organizing my own special place - all related to knitting and weaving and maybe at some point - spinning. I love looking at your things.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
I LOVE old lace and embroidered pieces. What a lucky thing you found them...they are a treasure! There are so many things you can do with them and I'm looking forward to seeing your creations.
