transitioning to spring - fashion friday

2/19/16

It feels like I have spent most of this week with a spray paint can in my hand and only changed out of my "work" clothes twice, once to go to bible study on Tuesday and yesterday to meet a couple of girlfriends for breakfast.

With the weather switching from cool to warm on a daily basis it was time to put together a few
outfits that could transition with the forecast.

This first outfit is what I wore to bible study.  I love this black blouse (similar on sale) from Loft.  I got it last year and forgot all about it until this week when I was looking for something lightweight to wear in our warm temperatures without wanting to break out the short sleeves this soon.

I love the cutout detail at the neckline and the flowing and forgiving loose cut of it.  It is high low and dips down a bit in the bag which as you know I love.  I'm wearing my Liz Claiborne jeans from JCPenneys again and my favorite black booties (similar here)  and (here).  The low heel makes them comfortable enough for all day but the style is right on trend.

We got a nice downpour of rain on Thursday which is when I headed out to meet my friends for breakfast and wore this second outfit.  I had hoped to get some pictures of this pretty soft pink sweater outside but for once the weather just wasn't cooperating.  Yes, every once in a while it does rain in Southern California.

The sweater is so soft and I love the detail the mock buttons add to the back.  Isn't it adorable?  I found it on winter clearance at Nordstrom's for under $20.00.  Normally Nordstrom's is a little pricier than I am willing to spend but I'm finding that you just can't beat their sale prices and the quality is top notch.

The black boots are from Kohls (similar on sale), the black jeans are Skinny Curvy from Loft and the silver necklace (which I see I wore both days) is also from Kohls (on sale here).  One of these days I'm going to do a post on the power of some basic pieces of silver or gold jewelry. It makes all the difference!

Transitioning to spring or any changing season is easy as long as you have a few pieces that are lightweight and easy enough to layer when necessary.

I am making slow and steady progress on our entryway/hall closet and am just about finished.  I hope to be able to share it with you next week.  I was reminded of a few design rules as I worked on it and I will be showing you the one that didn't work, as well as the one that did and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

I better leave it at that, until next time...

xo, Patty
