In other words, my mind is moving too slowly for much else this morning.
So on to decorating...
Our home wasn't built with a true entry closet and there really isn't a space dedicated for hanging
coats, purses or backpacks when you walk in, so when company comes over those things usually end up on the sofa or on our bed in the master bedroom.
Since there isn't the space or budget to build an actual closet I needed to get creative and find a different solution.
I have been gathering pictures of entryway/mudrooms for the last couple of weeks hoping to find some inspiration to put something together somewhere in our little cottage. I finally settled on the landing at the base of our stairs.
It is positioned directly in front of the entry door and is a natural gathering space for things needing to go upstairs so that will be its dual non-company purpose.
I have everything gathered together including this simple art piece that I painted over the weekend.
I'll take pictures when I'm all done and share it with you tomorrow.
So that's my day today (that plus a good long walk and a couple of gallons of water consumption to wash away all those calories from yesterday!) What on your agenda?
xo, Patty
Oh, that's where you are going to put your too cute painting. Can't wait to see the finished entry "closet". I got some ideas from pictures you shared, but I'm sure yours will be better. Happy Monday, Patty. Gonna drink water today too.
ReplyDeletePatty. I am in the process of rearranging and redecorating my office/guestroom. I guess I'll get on Pinterest, because I haven't been very motivated on my own. Your post and pictures has helped :) One more cup of coffee!
ReplyDeleteWe have a bit of a foyer...but golly it is so small. You step in the door facing a closet(stuffed full) there's rug for wiping feet. I really should put hooks on the outside of the closet door for company's things.Eager to see your crafty idea. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do to make a little guest entryway because we have the same problem in our little home! When you walk in the front door, you're right in the living room.
ReplyDeleteI posted about your fabric flags on my blog today. I hope you got my private email thanking you for them!
Hi Patty, We don't have much of an entry area either, just a little cubby and no coat closet. We just have a small bench and a coat rack hanging on the wall, not much. I am excited to see how your decorating project turns out!
ReplyDeleteLove your entry. You have all of the necessities needed for an entry. Also, love your new painting. So sweet.

Patty,
ReplyDeleteLove your inspirational photos of an entry in the making, dear friend!!!
Today, I through in the towel on Winter 2016. . .NO SNOW!!!
And. . .began adding touches of Spring decor!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I am interested to see how you fit it all together - I need the same thing at my house. My quilt rack in the den becomes Hubby's place to hang his jacket and hat and that drives me batty! Especially since we walks past a coat closet on the way in...
ReplyDeleteI don't have a coat closet either, but I have a hall tree by the front door that no one ever uses lol I also have an extremely small, narrow mudroom off the kitchen that the family uses, but I'm looking for ways to make it cuter, so I can't wait to see what you do. Great inspiration pictures too :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you posting again.

Hi Patty. I love the idea of creating a space to collect the things that get dropped by a door! Loved your painting too!
ReplyDeleteI began my walking program this morning. I am hoping to get 4 days a week in. It was a beautiful morning to be out and about today! I thoroughly enjoyed it. But tomorrow I shall be sore!
I plan to do a bit of house fluffing, and sewing. I have some new changes that have occurred here at our house. All good stuff!!!
