What makes a room sing - nesting

2/10/16

I was hoping to have my entryway reveal all ready to share with you but it's not quite ready for it's ta-da moment.  It has been one of those projects that didn't translate from my head to reality quite the way I wanted it to.

I think I know what's off and it requires a coat of paint that I'm hoping to get to today.  In the
meantime I thought I'd share a few pictures of our dining room hutch and a little peek of the pillow I made for the entryway bench.

If you have been around here a while you may remember that this large hutch was oak for ten years before I got up the courage to paint it white a couple of years ago.  It was the best decision ever.

Our floors are dark and the oak added to the heaviness of the room but now with it white the whole room fills lighter and fresher if that makes any sense.

I really believe a room is all about how it feels as much (or more than) how it looks.  You can have the perfect pieces placed in all the right places and not be satisfied but then you paint one thing or bring in a splash of unexpected color or texture and instantly that room sings.  It just feels right.  Don't you agree?

That's exactly how I feel about this hutch now.  I didn't move it and even what's placed in it, the dishes and colorful cookbooks, has remained largely the same but now instead of walking right by it I stop and linger and smile.

Tomorrow some of my blogging friends are starting a brand new linky party called Thoughts of Home on Thursday and they would love it if you stopped by and shared a little piece of your home and took a look at what others are sharing.  Kind of a neighborhood cup of coffee, virtually speaking.

Hope to see you there.

xo, Patty

  6. I love all the color in your home. Photos of all white interiors look pretty, but they look cold to live in. I need a splash of color here and there, and you never disappoint :)
