hello Saturday...

10/12/13

I have to tell you, it was kind of hard to kick off the covers this morning.  There is a definite chill in the air and my warm bed was

oh. so. tempting.

It was the thought of my morning coffee and some quiet time alone that provided the motivation I needed to get a move on.  I love leisurely Saturday mornings especially when the sky is blue and the air is crisp outside.

Since I decided to scale back my activities and started to say no a little more often, I am really appreciating the simple things more and am taking advantage of any calm times in the house.

Without guilt, just a heart of thankfulness.

I will be teaching my final mixed media class of the year today and then I'm off to my nephews birthday party which will give me a chance to sit and visit with my mom for a while.  It has been way to long since we have had a day or two to sit and chat and sew a little.  That is one of the things I am most looking forward to now that my schedule has been cleared a bit.

What are your plans for the day?  I'd love to hear...

xo Patty

btw...for those of you who asked, the little orange owl is from Michael's.  I bought it in the Spring but I am pretty sure they still carry the line.

  1. Your autumn display is pretty, and your plans to visit your nephew and mom sound like fun. I aim to spend time in my garden, plant a few veggies for fall harvest, and buy food at a local store with organic produce.

  2. I went to an orchard to pick apples on this gorgeous day. It's the Thanksgiving long weekend here in Canada, so your "heart full of thankfulness" in right on cue, Patty. The rich harvest time certainly makes a person grateful for the work of farmers.

  3. I am taking a break from setting up for a party with our friends from church. An apple themed party with hoe made cider, donuts and fresh apple pie:>) They'll be here at 5 pm so I better scoot. I have been having a hard time getting out of bed too. I still have the windows open at night and it has been getting down into the 40's. Hard to throw those warm covers off!

  4. Hi Patty,

Your calmer days sound a lot like mine since I have stopped tutoring. I completely understand the peacefulness you feel, not being rushed or pressed for time and/or commitments. Then again, your pretty autumn colours in your autumnal accessories would do the trick, too! Your home is always so serene and sweet.

    Happy weekend,

    Poppy

  5. Your decorations are so pretty! It all goes so well with your picture. Even the owl's eyes look like the flowers in the picture. It was so hard for me also toaday to get out of bed. But I wanted to get out into the yard and tackle leaves, etc. It sure doesn't look like I did much though later this afternoon. :( Winds came up and a lot more leaves came down. I also cut down some plants and washed sheets and 1 load of clothes. Now I will feel a little bit better if I decide to take a drive tomorrow. It is suppose to be nice out. Should stay home, but....

  7. Lovely vignette, Patty. Hope your weekend is relaxing. As for me, The Man and I have been in Pigeon Forge, TN for a week or so, enjoying the autumn air in one of our favorite places.
