gone, gone, gone...

3/15/13

I lost my day planner.  I have looked everywhere but it's gone.

It's not like I'm fanatical about writing down everything I plan on doing every day, (I admit that there are days when I just wing it and don't even think about my planner) but I am pretty good at writing down important dates and commitments I've made.  I will also reach for it on really busy days when there is much to accomplish.  It kind of grounds me when there's a lot going on.

That's what had me in search of my planner today, in fact I woke up in the middle of the night in a semi-panic state because I feel a bit over committed right now.  I made a mental (two a.m.) note to myself that I would get out my planner first thing in the morning to try and restore a little order in my life.

But it is gone, gone, gone.

I cannot even imagine where it could be.

I have checked all the usual places, I have tried to remember the last time I used it, I have even gotten a little paranoid imagining who would get pleasure out of watching me frantically searching for it.

I know it has to be here somewhere...

While I keep searching let's get on to our Friday survey.

You have one hundred dollars in your pocket that you have to spend (guilt free, of course) and the whole day to yourself, where would I find you?

I'll go first...

I would probably start at the garden center and see what was new there, then I would head over to Barnes and Noble and buy a couple of new magazines, then over to Pier 1 to drool a little there and see what I just cannot live without and finally head over to the Nail Spa where I would treat myself to a mani-pedi, stop for some lunch, then head home, make myself some tea, plant myself in my favorite chair and put my pretty painted toes up on the ottoman and blissfully enjoy my new reads.

Okay, now it's your turn...

xo, Patty

btw...The pretty little measuring cups are from Pier 1 and yes, I love them.  Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Boo -- I hope you find your planner. I have a book where I write all of my appointments & such down too - and I feel the same as you. Some days go by & I don't even look at it... but other days, it's a huge help & reminder of commitments!

Now -- as to that $100 I must spend. I have to admit, I would go straight to Anthropologie. I have NEVER been to one, and I see so many beautiful things (namely dishes and mugs and such. I would walk right by clothes to see dishes and mugs!) And, assuming this is a guilt-free $100, I would spend to my heart's content on all the little things of beauty that I found... COLORful things of beauty! Aaah, I've really got to get there some day. The closest one is an hour away! [Thanks for asking =D] Enjoy your Friday!

    1. You'll never guess... my sweet hubby came home and handed me a little "mad money" Friday night (after I'd first commented on your post) and said I should spend it how I'd like... GUILT FREE. Guess where we went today? Anthropologie! I got some regular "latte" bowls and also some tiny latte bowls that my daughter just couldn't resist -- and I couldn't resist treating her to. Also - a pretty mug! And, everything was ON SALE. I hadn't even noticed the sale sign, and so I didn't know everything was a sale price until the cashier told me the total, and said, "You got some good deals today!" A fun adventure, for sure! (and now I know how to get there! ;D )

  2. Sorry to hear you lost your planner. Hope you find it soon.

If my day off was today, and I had that $100.00. I would buy a new purse, drive to the nearest winery and have lunch, or visit the nearest craft store. I would call my hair stylist and get highlights. If it was warmer out I would drive up to the lake, take my car over on the ferry, and spend the day on the island.

  3. I love your sweet measuring cups! They're so different and cute. If I had $100. I'd drive 2 hours to visit Pier 1, Bowring (Canadian shop love), HomeSense (Canada's TJMaxx) and if there was any left over, I'd dine out on fried clams and chips at a 50's diner. Somehow I think I'd have to spring for the fried clams myself. Love your question. It was fun to dream. Enjoy your weekend!

    Blessings,

  6. Well I've been thinking hard about the $100 and come up with .....exactly the same as Betsy above! Although maybe some new boots, or a new bag, definitely some material and patchworking accessories (have never done any patchwork before but this would give me the impetus to start). Hold on I've run out of money - doesn't last long does it?! Jane x

  7. I would go straight to the Flea Market on Saturday and do my thing! Right now, they have so many pretty plants for the garden that that is probably where I would spend my money! Dream on!

  9. Did you look deep down in your favorite chair? That's where I found mine once. :)One time my daughter in law was looking for her much needed glasses and after she told me she had looked everywhere I said well did you look in the Christmas tree? ;) Guess where she found them?! lol Guess my grandson thought they'd make a nice ornament.
I'd definitely be spending that whole $100.00 at the spa. :D Massage, mani, pedi, as much as I could get.

  10. That is too bad about your book. You will find it I am sure in a crazy place you didn't realize you put it. It drives me crazy to misplace things! If I had a $100 I would offer it to you to buy those adorable measuring cups that are no longer sold at Pier 1! After reading your
blog, it hit me that would be the perfect thing for my clear flour and sugar canisters!!!.... But seeing how you love them so, I would go to this adorable home decor store near my house and buy something fun!

  12. Am I the only one totally distracted by these adorable mesuring cups? What's that you say? You have $100 to spend and you're going to get a new planner? Lol, really the cups are adorable. Truly, I hope you find the planner, and you will! Probably in the least expected place, (because clearly it wasn't in the most expected place. Sometimes my clarity astounds me) $100 and I HAD to spend it? Mmmmm, the mani-pedi sounds lovely, but I wuld have to do some shopping too. Maybe I would head for the closest vintage retail outlet, or in the summer I woud garage/estate sale until I dropped:>)

  19. Hope you find your planner! Those are cute cups! I too would go see what plants I could get, stop in at B&N, I would head to Cost Plus WorldMarket (love that store) and end with a coffee at Starbucks!

  20. I'll bet that your day planner will turn up when you stop looking for it! And then you'll laugh at yourself. :-) $100 and a day to myself? Wow...like you, probably B&N for some magazines, then out to an independent coffee shop for a mocha and reading one of the magazines. Then to a lovely store like Home Goods or even a couple of thrift shops to see what lovely things I could find for my home. Ending the day with a manicure sounds great, too.

  21. Sorry, Patty. I know how you feel about your datebook and how it keeps you grounded. I am a list maker too. Every day in the classroom while students are working quietly I make my to do list, shopping list, etc. Hope it turns up! If I had a $100.00 to spend (I can do that easily guilt free) I'd go straight to Home Depot. I need flowers, bark and cute outdoor cushions! Thrift stores and pedicure sound great too!! Your dishes are wonderful!!!

  22. Well you are going to have to spend some of your 100 on a new one at Barnes & Noble!!! Love the way you would spend your day and your money!
Mine would be similar. I would probably go to a garden center this time of year too. Or, to a fabric store, or to a yarn store...or to Glen Ivy...or...or...or...Oh gosh, good thing I don't have 100 dollars burning a hole in my pocket, because I could never decide what to do with it!!!
    Hugs,

  25. In the words of the most obvious, where did you last have it? Oooo doesn't that make you rant when someone says that?!

100 dollars, hmmm, I think a trip down to London's Docklands on a clear day, go on one of the boats down the Thames with a picnic and get off at the London Eye ready for a night time view of the city. Any money left over, a trip down Regents/Oxford Street. Perfect! Take care. Chel x

  26. The day planner is probably somewhere around that comfy chair with all the pretty pillows that you posted not too long ago...maybe right around that area

Oh my 100.00 and a day: well I was at the garden center a weekend or so ago and I was rushing it for my area; nothing going on. So it would have to be a bookstore or fabric store! :)

  33. I love those measuring cups! They would look so sweet in my kitchen. I put a link to this post on Facebook with the note that "if anyone is thinking of buying me a present....."!

    Glad you found your planner!

If I had 100 dollars to spend, guilt free, I would get a massage and a haircut! (it probably would cost more than 100 bucks here in Alaska!)

  34. So happy to have found your sweet blog site! Love the measuring cups too!
$100.00? I think it would have to go to some new gravel to go around my flower bed that I'm creating... or maybe a new arbor for a climbing New Dawn rose bush I'm looking to transplant. Such fun to think about.
