I have been reading (for a couple of months now) one thousand gifts by Ann Voskamp and I am constantly touched by the everyday, ordinariness of her gratitude list...
"book pages turning.
child sobs ebbing.
boys humming hymns.
click of a seat belt.
fender rattling with stones of gravel roads.
wind rushing through open truck window.
horse hooves clopping down a side road.
laundry flapping.
buggy clattering.
squeak of old swing swaying.
laughter." Ann Voskamp
Nothing special and yet everything special at the same time. Does that make sense? The very ordinary things of life, when reflected on with a thankful heart, are truly the most simple of pleasures.
Slow. down. and. listen. I know you'll find them, too.

I have got to see if I can find that book. It's so easy to be grateful for a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in, coffee in the morning ... but really delving deeper and being grateful for the minute makes this life experience even more pleasurable! Blessings to you and yours, Tammy
ReplyDeleteLovely thoughts. Truly, there is great joy in life's little things. Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com
