a change is in the air

9/5/11

I was awakened last night by the sound of thunder.  After a long dry summer, I had to listen intently to make sure that was indeed what I heard.  Soon another clap...followed by the sound of wind and a sudden downpour.

The sound of the rain falling reminded me that Autumn is definitely on it's way.  An always welcome visitor for sure, but the magic of an unexpected weather change just made it all so much more dramatic.  The timing couldn't be more perfect, adding a punctuation mark to the long weekend.

I am such a morning person, always ready to take on the day with my morning cup of coffee.  After taking a peek out the window, I grabbed my camera and headed outdoors.

Sure enough the evidence was everywhere...I didn't dream the whole thing.  Fall is definitely in the air.

Have a gloriously lazy labor day!

  1. How cozy and the pictures are beautiful! I don't know when the fall season will be here, since we are still in the 90's, but I am certainly anticipating it! Have a great week =) Xoxoxo ~Ashley

  2. I heard it too. It was fabulous and more rain this morning and a cool breeze though now it is getting humid. Yuck!

  3. We got our thunder and storm night before last. Would have loved that much rain a few weeks ago, but better late than not at all. Have a nice day.

  4. Fall is definately on her way. We are dipping in the 40's at night here and in the 60-70 range during the day. Even the air feels like fall. Loving it! Great photos:)

  5. Thankfully, we have had no flooding from the tropical storm, but we have had two whole days of a slow steady rain, and dark, cloudy skies. There are some leaves on the ground, and it is very, very cool at the moment. I am loving it so much that I have been dragging fall decor out!

  6. Hi Patty, wonderful pictures. The sound of thunder is something we hear often in Florida. Yikes!
