keep your eyes open - fashion friday

1/29/16

Sometimes you find the prettiest things in the most unlikely places.

I was making my weekly Walmart run for paper and toiletries and happened to notice all the pretty new sweaters they have.  As I was practicing restraint with the folded cardigans, (in every color for
only $8.94) I happened to glance over and see this pretty white infinity scarf hanging there for less than $5.00.  It's faded glory brand and I love their stuff.

It is really soft and the creamy white color makes it super versatile.  Needless to say the restraint I showed with the sweaters went flying out the window when it came to the scarf.  It comes in a pale pink that would be perfect for Spring and I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting it, too.  If it's there when I stop in this week I can't promise I'll show the same restraint in bringing it home.

I love how the white sets off this pretty navajo inspired blouse that I bought at Burlington Coat Factory, which is another unlikely place to for me to Shop.  I had a store credit from an online return and actually ended up with a few really cute things that I'll be sharing once the weather warms up a bit.

I really like this next outfit and I've worn it a couple of times already this winter.

I love the look of layers but don't like the bulkiness and extra padding (and warmth) that comes with them so that's why I love vests; they can give the same look without all those extras.  This black and red checked one from Old Navy is one of my favorites.  I paired it with a navy long sleeve t-shirt, silver jewelry and my black suede boots.

I love outfits like this that look put together but are still really comfortable.  A cute vest can do that.  I was able to pick up a couple at Old Navy before Christmas on sale for less than $20.00.  They have definitely been worth the investment.

Are you a fan of vests?  What's your favorite way to wear them?  I'd love to hear.

xo, Patty

  1. Patty,
Alrighty, dear friend, you are beginning to "coax" me into adding more "fashionably" accessories and clothing from my wardrobe when choosing my daily outfits!!!
I even wore a bit of "bling" to my Committee Meeting yesterday!!!
    I L O V E vests!!!
I wear them Spring, Autumn and Winter!!!
Usually over a three quarters length sleeve, but in Winter over sweaters, as well!!!
Love your new infinity scarf from Faded Glory!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  2. You have a great eye for a pretty bargain, Patty. Yes, I have a couple of vests Usually wear them over a long sleeve t-shirt. Can't stand the bulk of a sweater and a vest. I like them because they cover up the rolls that show through the t-shirt. HeHe! Also because most of the time I am too hot in a coat, but a vest is just right. You are a fashionista!
