I've had a gift card to Home Goods from Christmas burning a hole in my pocket so I took advantage of a kid free day and headed out in search of a few things on my decor wants list. You have one of those tucked in your purse, don't you? If you don't I highly recommend that you put one together.
My list includes all the little things that I want to add to each room that I might find when I run into
Target or am out thrifting. That way when I find myself needing a little retail therapy or happen to have a few minutes to check out my favorite thrift store I can actually browse with a purpose.
Anyway...I headed into Home Goods looking for anything Valentine inspired to add to a little display I had brewing in my mind.
I don't do major decorating for each holiday, with the exception of fall and Christmas, but I do like to add a few items to my dining room table centerpiece and on the counter that separates our dining room from the kitchen.
There wasn't much actual Valentine decor (I'm sure that was all snagged up in December, ha, ha) but I did find a few pretty pink bowls and mini pitchers.
Pink isn't a color that I would normally use in my house but I think if you gather it together in one spot as part of a holiday display it totally makes sense.
I used this great chunky bread board (it's Pioneer Woman from Walmart) as my gathering base but you could use any low basket or tray just as well.
I can see myself using the same board for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Flag Day, etc., by just changing out the color scheme with things I already own and flowers from the garden or grocery store it could easily be transformed. The board would actually look great with a bottle of wine and a few cheeses for an impromptu girlfriend night as well.
Most of us don't have the time, budget or energy to completely redo our homes for each holiday but we still enjoy a fun celebration. Having a place to gather a few pretty things together can allow us to do just that.

So cute. And yes, I have a list too.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to carry a list. This is my time for lists too. So much on my mind when I go out, I love to have something jotted down. Your pink is so pretty and fresh. I'm thinking you can use it for Easter too. Love when I can dual purpose colors. Your displays always look so colorful and pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink dishes - they're so sweet. I have a large similar cutting board like yours that I found at IKEA. Great idea to keep a household need/want list in your purse.
