I woke up today with a light heart.
I don't know when and I don't know how, but somewhere along the line I had let a cloud of heaviness invade my mind. There was nothing I could point to that was wrong just a lot of tiny little things that I let steal my joy.
It may sound silly but I think taking control of my home, clearing clutter and prettifying my surroundings, has had a lot to do with the lightening of my mood. We are after all, visual people. I have purposefully set out to create an environment that feels soothing, a place to retreat to.
So when it came time to pick the fabric for my dining room windows I went shopping with the idea of finding a clean, calming, peaceful, neutral design.
And then I saw this...
And my heart began to sing...
So I bought five yards of it and today it's just me, my cup of coffee, my sewing machine and this yummy fabric. Sometimes you just need to throw caution to the wind and follow your heart and that feeling of peace will find you!
Happy Tuesday.
xo, Patty

Patty, I know what you are saying. I have had times when I feel joyless and do not know why. . I have heard that clutter and messes makes us feel overwhelmed at times...so I guess that could make us kind of sad. it's like if the fridge needs cleaning, once it is clean we feel better...so you are on the right track. I am wishing you much joy. :):) I like the pretty material. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteHa! Patty I would have done that exact same thing! You will find other ways of capturing the peace and calm - but every time you glance at your curtains you will feel joy! What glorious fabric! I'm not sure it would have brought me so much joy actually MAKING the curtains - one of my least favourite sewing activities, but oh! how lovely they will look, I am sure! ReplyDeleteLove the color!!! Glad you are feeling lighter and brighter today!
ReplyDeleteits fabulous, did you find it at a local quilt shop or fabric shop???
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who love color, I think it can definitely lighten our mood and lift our spirits! The fabric you chose has bright, clear colors and there is plenty of light background to make it feel less busy. I would find something like this so much more cheering than a bland neutral. I can't wait to see the curtains:>)
ReplyDeleteI have always believed this Patty. We are nourished by beauty, and find freedom in order. So reflective of God in His Creation.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh!! I love that fabric. Bright and cheery, a must for picking up any ones mood. So glad you followed you heart on this one.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to read your words, and know that you have a heart filled with happiness and gratitude :)
ReplyDeleteThere is something comforting, and up-lifting about having our "houses in order".
Looking forward to seeing your curtains!! Also I LOVE that you are sewing your own curtains.... what a sense of accomplishment that will be, and a it's a big bonus that you can have the fabric that you love :)
What pretty fabric!! Can't wait to see the curtains!

I know how you feel. When you have a house full of people like we both do and lots of this and that and washing and cooking and cleaning, it can be a weight on you. I hear you totally. I have been doing the same thing knowing, and i have know this for a long time, that I cannot be happy in our busy life if our house is not organized and somewhat clean, and I am caught up and laundry is not getting done and so on and so forth. I still have your basket. You may find it on your porch one day.
ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your fabric choice and your motto!!!
You've got this, dear friend. . .now. . .go~o~o for it!!!
Can't wait to see this at the windows!!!
Fondly,
Pat
