Just about the time I forgot what it's like to have a quiet moment to myself and a few days before I officially lost my mind, school started again.
What a difference a year makes. Just 12 short months ago we were walking this little guy to his first day of kindergarten and in the blink of an eye it was time to line up for first grade.
He was still a little nervous to be sure but nothing like the quivering lower lip we dropped off for kindergarten last year.
Now that school is back in session, the baby is six months old and mom is back to work again, the house is finding a whole new rhythm for this baby sitting gramma. Naps are more scheduled (both the babies and mine) so I've actually had a chance to start on the dining room revamp.
I finished painting the big oak hutch the same white as the kitchen cabinets and I can't tell you what a difference it makes in lightening up the whole room. If you follow me on instagram, you've seen me style and restyle these shelves a few times already. I think I'm finally happy with the way they look and I can't wait to show you more but for now it's just a quick peek and I'm back at it.
Have a wonderful Monday!
xo, Patty
Yay for school! I think the kids are usually glad to be back to a routine too. Is this why we love fall so much? After rushing around all summer having fun, I think we love turning back to home and getting ready for cozy days inside. I'm looking forward to seeing the dining room re-do!
ReplyDeleteBack to school doesn't start here for another few weeks but we're "in between" right now, with our bigs kids all done school and our little grandson just 3, almost 4. He will go to preschool again this year but a year from now, it's kindy!! Have fun revamping your dining room!
ReplyDeleteHi Patty. Isn't it the truth. About what a difference a year makes! He looks so handsome, all ready for his first day of school. Mama and both of her boys, so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hutch is fabulous! You have truly inspired me to do my kitchen cabinets! Not yet. Too darn hot!!! Did you paint inside or out?
Have a great day Grandma!

School doesn't start until after Labor Day for us, and my boys are 'bored' and ready for school to start . . . and SO AM I! In fact, my youngest son was driving me crazy a few days ago and I begged my mother (who lives an hours away) to come take him for a few days. Oh, thank God for all you Grandmothers!!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour little first grader has the most beautiful eyes.
ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeleteYeah!!!
First Grade!!!
Reading begins!!!
The best gift you can give your elementary student. . .
their own library card and a weekly trip to the library!!!
It's going to be a great year. . .minus the sniffles!!!

Pat
