It is a season of life I don't hope to repeat. again. ever.
But as always, God was faithful and more than good as he gently restored order to my world and joy to my heart.
Now I find myself in such a good place and loving life...not perfect but pretty darn close.
As a thank you to all of you who have hung in there with me, offering words of encouragement and many prayers, I thought it was about time for a give away.
So I gathered a few of my favorite things just for you. I am sure the loot will grow as the week goes on, too.
These Pier One measuring cups you all loved, this beautiful Anthropologie mug and a vintage sheet pillow slip will start the ball rolling. You know the drill. Leave me a comment on this post (only comments on this post will count) and you will be entered.

Hi Patty. I've only recently found your blog and know I am among the many who anxiously await the next post. I did not know of the struggles you were up against last year but it is apparent that you have joy in your heart again. You truly are an inspiration. These are beautiful gifts for your giveaway. The vintage sheet pillow slips bring remind me of my Grandmother. You recently shared a picture of an orange floral pattern pillow slip....my Gram had that exact same sheet. Wish I would've kept some of those now.

I am going to have to check our Pier One for those measuring cups. Those would make sweet Christmas gifts for my friends and family who love to cook. They're so pretty and not something I think they would purchase for themselves.

ReplyDeleteI'm fairy new to your blog but am happy for you to be rallying your heart to better times. It's always so hard to get thru such a hard time but it's obvious you have touched many hearts. I'm glad for you to achieve some peace. I think all of us at one time or another has had to weather heart breaking times. That's one of many things I love about the blogs, so much support and compassion out here. I don't have a blog but I read/subscribe to many, I keep coming back almost every day, I don't want to miss anything. I feel like there are so many people out there that care about each other no matter how far apart in the world we are from each other.

ReplyDeleteWe will be empty nesters this fall, when our youngest heads off to college. I have that exact same grinder, it was my grandmothers and I use it to chop nuts.

ReplyDeleteMy one and only will be 6 next month so I have several years to go before I am an empty nester. There is no doubt that will take some getting used to. You'll do fine adjusting to the peace and quiet, Patty, and it'll be the best of both worlds because they'll be close by for frequent visits. ReplyDeleteWe've been empty nesters for about 17 years, with a 3 month period with my son and family when they moved back from Germany. We love it. I honestly can't remember how I felt at first, it's been so long ago. Our grandkids are over often though and that keeps us from being lonely. lol ;)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are empty nesters as well. I had an only child and at first it was extremely hard. We live in Florida and our son lives in Maryland. We only see him about twice a year so that is hard. As far as being an empty nester, now I love it. I know that sounds confusing but it is what it is... Smiles to you

ReplyDeleteWe are in the rebound part of empty nest right now. My son left for a year and a half and now he's back. It's hard in ways that you describe and because they are adults...well mine is 21 and kind of adult. :) It seems silly for me to fuss about plates in his room and dirty underwear on the floor at this point. I think any time they come home for whatever reason, they will revert to some of the kid like ways. I'm ready for him to be able to go out again and seek the life he wants and needs. My husband and I will be fine when the time comes as long as our son is fine.

I just read your blog about becoming an empty nester, I'm not there yet, I am becoming a granmother this summer for the first time with my oldest girl but when you wrote of not missing the empty bottle of conditioner in the shower, the half empty water bottles, styrofoam containers of leftovers, you would almost think you are looking into my life with my almost 20 year old younger girl. She assures me that she will be living here for many more years to come. It brought a wide smile to my face that my little one is not so different from anyone else, who knew. Enjoyed the humour, but really enjoy that my girls are still so much a part of my life. Hope you have a wonderful day.

ReplyDeleteI am an empty nester and I so enjoy it, just recently my son separated from his girlfriend and I thought I would have to provide that safe harbor once again. But he said to me, "mom, I just can't live here again with you", I didn't argue with him, I didn't point out that he could save some of his hard earned money, and I didn't let him see me crossing my fingers and toes and everything else in the hope that he wouldn't ask to move back in. Whew!! I know that sounds kind of mean but I'm just done being a full time mother, I like the freedom I have now.

ReplyDeleteFunny -- I was thinking this about MY blog the other day as well. I came up with "Heart & Home" -- and perhaps it applies to your blog as well. When thought of in a broad sense, "Heart & Home" covers so many things. You do share feelings and stages of your heart, which makes you vulnerable (and I mean that in a good way). You're kind, and the ideas you share are positive and uplifting. You're a "drinking from my saucer" kind of gal, I think. =) -- which is what draws me here. You share things that are going on in and around your home and in your world, and, whether or not you think of yourself as a "photo blog," can I just say... I DO! I have told you before, and I'll tell you again. Your photos are beautiful, and I am SO DRAWN in by them as well as your words. I'm not always looking for something deep in my blog reading, but I do enjoy it when somebody just shares from the heart.

When I began blogging 6 years ago, it felt like you were meeting real people who just wanted to share their projects, their house fluffing and some parts of their lives. Now blogging is big business. You have to have a theme, you have to know your target audience. And heaven help you if you miss some posts or have a dry spell of creativity. I would be lying if I said I am not tempted by the money some of the big bloggers make. But really? I'm just looking for a little corner of the work filled with real people and people I can be real with. You are one of them. DOn't worry about "what kind of blogger" you are. You are a great blogger who shares the beauty in your life and is a real person. You have beautiful photos and interesting posts. I'll always come back:>)

ReplyDeleteThe way you describe your blog sums it up perfectly. What you blog about are things you would share with a friend and when I visit, I feel like I'm visiting a good friend. That is what keeps me coming back. I've made a new friend who inspires me by sharing her interests and thoughts about things, in general. I'm always interested in what you have to say. Through the pictures you post you have invited me into your home and I get a sense of your personality and character....a true sense of warmth.
