let the purging begin

I slept in a little this morning and it felt so good.  It's funny how my body has adjusted to waking up a tad later than it did when I was working.  Now it's time to put some kind of plan of action down onto paper.  What to do with my day?

I am in a major purging mood which always happens in the spring and I am about to start pulling things out of closets and into those familiar three categories...keep, give away or throw away.

Our church is having a huge yard sale at the end of the month so I have the perfect motivation to get started...or so you'd think.  My mind is ready but my body is protesting.  Once you start there is no going back.

Is there any season you are more prone to start purging and organizing in?

Okay, enough procrastinating. I better get a move on.

xo, Patty

This little 6x6 canvas and tag are what I'll be teaching this month at Hearts n Crafts.  I have added a tab under my header that links to the store blog where I teach.  They have just asked me to add a couple of more classes a month to the schedule and I am so excited.

  2. Patty, I can relate to this post! First off, the colors in those prints are so cheerful and beautiful! I'm sure you're a very good teacher! What a blessing that you can pour yourself into others and be used by God!

Back to relating, I understand what you mean about naturally waking up a little later now that you're not working. After one year (I can't believe it's been a year!!) I'm still trying to maintain a fairly regular schedule.

I definitely have the urge to purge things in the Spring. I'm going to try to have a fundraising yard sale this summer, and I need to sort out things. :)
    Blessings,
    Leslie

Your class sounds fun, I know that you will get some excited ladies . . . happy and ready to learn something new:) I know what you mean about sleeping in . . . seems my body is tuned into waking up around 7 or 7:30 . . . when I was working I would set my alarm clock for 5:30 . . . what a refreshing restful difference :)
    Have a cheer filled day.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  4. Patty,
    Great subject!!!
I use to only purge during the Summer months while teaching.
I had three months and felt that was such a luxury of time!!!
Three years ago, shortly after retiring full time from teaching,
I began the purging after each Season. Problem was, I was working
part~time in home decor shop and was purchasing as much (or more)
than I was ridding myself of!
    T H E N came REAL retirement!!!
I began a quest last July 1st and it has been such a HUGE blessing!!!
Every drawer, cabinet, closet, nook & crany has been purged!!!
Once I etablished my true style of decorating, it became easy to
eliminate all those "things" that weren't needed!!! Ah~h~h!!!
This, being my first Spring of retirement, I am ready to do the same
with the garden and out~of~doors decor!!!
Good luck with your purging!!! Your Church Garage $ale will thank you...
    and you'll breathe a ^sigh^ of freshness!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  7. I'm in the midst of a purge and spruce up in my home. I've been looking to move and want this little house to look lovely and fresh. I just spotted two crocuses in the garden, so springtime weather and the garden will soon be on its way.

I like your "homey" canvas and tag, Patty.

  8. Definitely feel the urge to purge in Spring - partly because the sunshine starts to come through the windows and show up the dust! This year though, with the weather being so cold here in the UK my purging urge has been delayed - maybe I'll have a 'Summer clean'? Jane x

  9. I would love to tackle my linen closet which is looking a terrible sight. I get caught up in the garden and not so much in cleaning it seems. xo, olive

  11. I just went through my kids closets and handed down clothes. It's good to get things paired down.

I would love to know how you got started. angelaamason63@yahoo.com .... would love, love, love to hear from you :)

    1. Mixed media is new for me, too. One of the nice things I'm discovering is that there really are no rules. I have a couple of good sites listed on my sidebar. Both Christy Tomlinson and Yes and Amen blog have free tutorials and supply lists. Have fun exploring! Patty
