the day after, the day after...

12/27/12

I really intended on writing a post on the day after Christmas but somehow it was just as full a day as the ones before.  So here we are...the day after, the day after Christmas.

This is the first chance I've had to sit and reflect on the blessings of it all.  This is the first chance I've had to just be still and enjoy the quietness of my post Christmas home before it all comes down and is packed away till next year.

It was a good Christmas....really, really good.  I loved preparing and wrapping and baking and gifting...

I think maybe because I finally let everyone off the hook to be who they are and not who I expected them to be, (including myself) I truly enjoyed their company.

This has not been the easiest year.  Things have changed..I have changed...but change is a part of life.  I have such an excitement brewing inside me right now.   I am ready for the New Year.  What about you?

xo, Patty

  2. Patty it sounds like you are going to have a great New Year! This reminded of an interview I saw on Dr Oz once. He was talking it a surgeon...that was 85 years old (still working)!!! Dr. Oz asked him his secret to longevity and he said, "I have always just allowed the people in my life to be who they are." I'll never forget this. It's much harder then it seems, but I truly believe it can bring you peace and make you healthy! Happy New Year!

  3. Glad you had such a good Christmas. I'm with you about the coming year. 2012 was not the best year ever and while I can't believe it's coming to an end already, I'm looking forward to 2013.

  8. Patty- Isn't it great when we can allow everyone else to be WHO they are rather than WHO we expect them to be? I crossed that bridge a few years ago myself. I am glad you are excited about going forward into the next year- xo Diana

  16. While washing some dishes - I thought a lot about the changes that have been happening - not just to our Christmas celebrations - but in our lives in general. I love to reflect - especially when I can learn something from it. Nice to see that I was not alone.

    Happy New Year!

Patty, this is just a great thought... I came back to re-read it and write it down in my journal. You have helped me. I am working on this for the new year.
    Happy New Year to you!
