Yes, it's December

12/1/11

My life for the last week or so has been filled with the thoughts and preparations of Christmas.  If you recall, I wanted to get all my decorating done by December 1st so that I could really enjoy the whole month of December without all the hustle and bustle (and mess) of decorating.  I wanted one less thing that I "needed" to get done.

It's been a whirlwind, but I am finished.  I kind of feel like I've been on one of those cooking wars reality shows where each chef has one hour to mix the secret ingredient into a feast.  The clock has struck December and it's time for me to put my cooking tools down and step away from the stove.  My dish has been plated and is ready for presentation.  In spite of my self imposed time table, I have really enjoyed the whole process this year.

I know there are some of you like me, that are finishing up their decorating and there are some who haven't even started, wanting to linger on the buzz of Thanksgiving a while longer.   I get that, too.

There is no right or wrong way to prepare for the holidays...the colors and timing are personal.  What works for me might seem strange to you but that's okay...it's what works for me.  That's one of the great things about the wrappings of the season...one of things that makes visiting all you so much fun...our diversity.

My word, blogland (and life in general) would be a snooze if you were all like me!

  7. Your house looks wonderful! I love the chalk board idea. I just may steal it! I'm still patiently waiting for my ceilings to be done so I can start painting. I may get to decorating soon. But until then I am enjoying all my blogland friend's homes. Now you can relax and put on the Christmas music!

  10. I agree with you--whatever timing works best for you is ok! Love your cozy, cheerful Christmas decorations! I'm a fan of a chalkboard with seasonal greetings! Mom has one and it's fun to see what will be written we when visit. :)

  11. There is just something about Christmas decorations that make the house feel so cozy and pretty! Come January first I can't wait to wipe the slate clean, but for now, every decoration I put up seems to make my house sing:>) Your home looks so pretty all decked out for Christmas. Lucky you that you have the decorating finished! I am still picking away at it.

  13. Aren't these winds crazy? Our yard is a mess. Your house looks darling and always so cozy. Glad you are all done. I need to get our village up but hubby has to get it down plus we don't have our tree yet.

  23. Lookin' good. Can't wait to see more of what you've done.
As for me, I used to get it done in a few days but now it takes me over a week! I finally got all the decorations out of the attic (had to do some cleaning up in there, too!). Slowly but surely, it's coming together. I hope to have most of it done by Monday. We'll see....
