But like most things, the longer I've lived with the old one, the more it has grown on me. I can now see where it's demure character suits our little cottage perfectly.
And with a little creative placement it can be layered as wonderfully as a mantel twice it's size.
Most of what's on the mantel is up year round. I simply tucked in the greenery and pinecones amongst my existing display.
Decorating our small house on a budget has taught me to be patient and live with the existing before rushing right into what you might think you want.
There is character and charm in most anything if you view it from the prospective of possibility instead of liability.
I've had so much fun seeing everyones Christmas mantels over at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia. I already have ideas I want to incorporate into my own mantel next Christmas. I can't wait to see what you've come up with.
Your mantel is lovely. You've inspired me to take a good look at my mantel and do some sprucing up!
ReplyDeleteI think it is so pretty, and there is something about simplicity for sure! :D

very charming & lovely. love all the pine cones. (:
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mantel, and the best part is you have it decorated year round and can transform it into a Christmas theme with just greenery. Great idea, and great use of space. All the layering is what makes it so interesting.
ReplyDeleteOh, so pretty! I love your mantle!

I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on looking at the possibilities, and being patient.
SO true.
I have found the more I simplify, the more joy that I find in each and everyday.
No more 'stuff' cluttering up my space and my time :)
Oh your home is so warm and Christmasy. I loved your mantle and I agree you have to live in a house for a while to see if your tastes change.
ReplyDeleteLovely, Patty. I think you did a grand job.
