These cute vintage looking cherry and strawberry glasses are from Pier 1 and I love them but there is something about those old peanut butter jars that bring out the romantic in me...longing for a simpler time, I guess.
When dishes are as pretty as these it's a joy to fill the sink with warm sudsy water and wash them by hand. Don't you agree?
I'm off to a craft show with my SIL and a sweet blogging friend. Who knows what treasures I'll find!
Hope your weekend is as wonderful as mine,
Patty
yes I remember the peanut butter jar glasses. We had the Flinstones, from the 1960's...not pretty but my brother and I loved them!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more of your treasures! We have so many of the same tastes in things. And your banner just makes me smile every time I click on your blog!

I love this post, you took the words right out of my mouth. I feel the same way, always telling Hubby "lets live like "Little House on the Prairie". Simpler is much better and less stressful. I love the glasses, and the story of the peanut butter jars. You put a smile on my face, and made for a happy day:) Great post!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty glasses!!!
ReplyDeleteI love them all!!!
Kisses and hugs,Olgianna!!
Have a nice weekend!!

I agree, the older ones are much prettier than the new ones. Sounds like you have a fun day planned!
ReplyDeleteYour peanut butter jar glasses are lovely. I often think the 50's and 60's would have been a great era to live in.
ReplyDeleteHave fun this afternoon!!
This brought back memories for me of drinking out of recycled jelly jars at my grandparents' home. FUn!
ReplyDeleteI agree the old vintage things are made so well. Doubt much of what is made now will be around in 40 or 50 years. Love those cherry glasses. Cute cute!! Can't wait for today. I think it is going to be cold down there.
ReplyDeleteI remember saving the glass jelly jars and we used them for juice. Have a great time at the craft fair!
ReplyDeleteI remember these glasses in my mums cupboard,, aren't they lovely,
ReplyDeleteThose glasses are so pretty. What I find interesting about vintage glasses is their size. Everything we do now is so much bigger.
ReplyDeleteI agree, there was more pride in craftmanship and quality years ago. I have some of those type of glasses myself and I love them. I'm such a sucker for anything vintage, especially from the 50's, since that is the era I grew up in. I remember my mom used to save the sour cream glasses, they were short wide tumblers. And as kids we had the cartoon jelly jars.
ReplyDeleteI love those old glasses! I wish companies today would get a clue and emulate that same practice. Think of how much trash could be avoided if containers were recyclable into something you could use!
ReplyDeleteI love those vintage glasses. I remember the peanut butter and jelly coming in those.
ReplyDeleteHi Patty,
ReplyDeleteWhen I left you a message this morning and said have a great time at the craft fair, who would had thought, that at the very moment I walked up to Maryjane's booth, you three would be there at the same time, and we would meet! Isn't that crazy! Thank you so much for letting me tag along to lunch with you. I had the most wonderful time getting to know the three of you!!!! I can't wait to meet up again!!!
Hugs,
Kris
Lovely little glasses...we didn't have peanut butter here in those days (I know!) so had no jars to collect when I was a child, but I do remember little drinking glasses decorated with flowers, and adorable hostess aprons made from pretty fabrics! Simple and pretty are a perfect combination for me.

I have always loved those vintage glasses. I look at them every time I'm antique shopping & I just know that one day I'm going to start collecting them. They're so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Patty, I remember peanut butter coming in glasses in the 70's. Yes, life seems all round more graceful back then.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty colors.
Barb
Those glasses really caught my eye! Very pretty display. Browsing your blog and I am following you back!
