hello saturday

7/5/14

Hello Saturday.  I am dragging a little after yesterdays fun.  My sister in law and brother in law came by for a grown up BBQ.  Our city is in a no fireworks zone (due to high fire danger) so I don't even bother asking the kids and grandkids to come by.  They always head out to a neighborhood that still lets you set off a box or two of the sparkly stuff.

It was really nice with just adults.  My husband kept us entertained as the resident DJ walking us down memory lane with the likes of Marshall Tucker and Lynyrd Skynyrd and a host of others as we laughed the night away.  I kept our glasses full with Pina Colada's and we ate delicious BBQ beef and chicken fajitas using the Pioneer Woman's recipe.  (Note to self, them cowboys like spicy food, cut the chili powder in half next time.)  I'm not sure whether it was the late night or the Pina Colada's that had me dragging my tail this morning?

Once I rolled out of bed, I did manage to snap a few pictures of my kitchen as the befores to my afters for the mini renovation that starts next week.  I wanted to be brave and show you how the space really functions and what my issues and hopes for it are.  On Monday the walls will be stripped and wiped down in anticipation of new paint and the cabinet doors will come off the hinges and prepped for paint, as well.  I'll be back soon to post the before photos, ready to hear your ideas and solutions, and to share mine.

Hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day!

xo, Patty

  1. Patty,
I, like you, dear friend, love Pioneer Woman. . .
but she likes her food H O T!!!
After having gall bladder surgery, spices are at a minimum here!!!
Oh, I'm excited to hear about your mini kitchen reno!
We are getting estimates for new ceramic tiles in the Entry Hall here.
After that, I'll be "freshening" the kitchen cupboards, also!!!
Thanks for sharing this lovely patroitic vignette!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  2. I was wondering if you would mind telling me who the strawberry pitcher is by? I absolutely love it , as well as your blog. I am anxious to see your kitchen redo.
