My mom and I are just about to head out to the airport on our way home from the sweetest visit with my sister in Texas. It was the perfect mixture of relaxing, shopping, talking and eating.
On Saturday after hitting a fantastic yard sale, we ventured out to the Houston Nutcracket Market which is an annual craft and Christmas show. I have to admit it was a little overwhelming to try and take in all in one day. Suitcases and the fee for extra luggage kept my buying to a minimum but I did manage to find room in my existing suitcase for a couple of pretty Christmas ribbons I bought.
We each took our turn in the kitchen whipping up a few family favorites and still managed to visit a couple of our favorite local restaurants. I searched every inch of my sister's house for a scale to help keep myself accountable but to no avail. (I guess I could have asked her where it was but that might have sounded like I wasn't enjoying all the great meals...at least that's what I'm telling myself anyway).
I figure I can use the rest of the week to pay the piper, so to speak, and eat healthier when I get home.
I forgot I took these pictures of my new thrift store oil paintings before I left home. They will round out my gallery wall collection nicely. I'm not sure if the frames will get a coat of paint or if I will leave them as is. A friend suggested living with them for a few days before deciding and I think that's a great idea.
If you follow me on instagram you saw the gallery wall I helped my sister put together over the weekend along with some pictures of our trip to the craft show. We discovered a few tricks to hanging a gallery wall that I am excited to use when I get back home.
I better go make one final sweep of my room, try to zip my full suitcase and get headed to the airport. I'll be back to share more soon.
xo, Patty
I am so glad you had a good time. I love your little pictures and I usually live with things a few days before I make changes, too. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSounds like lots of fun! What a nice break from the daily-ness of life! =)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous paintings, that tomato calls my name. So pretty! I am so glad you had a wonderful time with family!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear your tricks before I get started on my own wall! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteHi Patty, what a fun trip! Don't worry about the food, taking care of ourselves is important, but life is made to be lived. The memories you made this weekend are priceless. That's the part that counts!!
ReplyDeleteI love your thrift store pictures, especially the flower!
Patty, so glad you enjoyed your trip to our fair city. Yes, the Nutcracker Market can be overwhelming and exhausting. I tend to leave it for the youngsters who have young feet. I went a couple years ago with my twin sister and was dying by the time we left.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels.
It sounds like you had a lot of fun! And I'm sure you had great weather, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures that you purchased and yes, you should live with the frames a bit before painting, then if you really hate them, you can do whatever you like with them, right?
I hope you arrived home safe and sound.
