summer kick off

We are having a family reunion this month and I am looking forward to seeing cousins I haven't seen in a very long time.  I am conveniently ignoring the fact that it may or may not involve a bathing suit (yeah, that ain't gonna happen).

My mom comes from a family of ten siblings so you can only imagine the laughter and fun that will ensue.

Each family is in charge of putting together there own branch of the family tree to share at the party.  I am thinking of using a modified version of the one that I made for my mom last year.  I have to figure out how to put it all on a large poster board for display but I already have a few ideas brewing in my mind.

I cannot remember the last time we all got together for a celebration like this.  It seems the only time we gather lately is for funerals and that is just not right.  Large families are quickly becoming a thing of the past and I think it is so important for this youngest generation to know what it's like to be surrounded by all that noise and chaos.

I'll let you know how the poster board tree works out when it's finished.  So, when was the last time you had a family reunion?  Did it involve a bathing suit?

xo, Patty

  2. This sounds so wonderful - my family is very small and we all live miles apart so get togethers tend to be limited to weddings and funerals. Your poster board tree looks intriguing - looking forward to seeing how it works out x Jane

  3. We haven't had a family reunion in a few years but when we were growing up it was an annual event and was such a good time. Am interested to see how your tree comes along, I've been working on our family tree a little and am enjoying it.

  4. With my hub's side of 9. Only funerals. Sad right.

My daughters side, yes swimming. I put one on for many years and even went on the back of the water jet.
Not this year though. Two ton Annie I will pass.

  5. Those hearts are cheerful, did you make them? I wear a bathing suit when I swim at a health club 3 times a week. People swim there in all shapes and sizes, so be brave and try a suit!

  6. No bathing suits in many years! I am blessed to have a girl cousins reunion 2 x a year. And we will be having the 107th Reunion of my Paternal Grandmother's family. Hope you are together soon!

  9. Sounds lovely Patty, what fun it sounds and your board sounds exciting! I only have one sister and three little Aunts died in africa in the thirties, so there are no cousins around sadly. One in England, but she is single and we don't get to see eachother much. A big family sounds fun. I have four children and hope they will get together with their families in years to come :-) Pam xx

  10. I love family reunions too. It's true that we often don't gather unless it's for a wedding or funeral. We had one last September when my sister came home for the first time in 25 years! And, this summer we're having another one when our daughter and her family comes home for a visit. I can't wait for that one as our grandsons are coming! I hope your gathering goes well and you all have a wonderful time. Blessings! Pam

  12. Oh, Patty- Enjoy every moment of it all. I had planned on going home for the family reunion this summer just so I could see my brother and he passed away very unexpectedly in February. I wish I had not waited for the reunion to roll around to go see him. ENJOY every crazy bit of chaos... xo Diana

  13. It sounds as though you are going to have a wonderful time, and I love the idea of the family tree. My family is now so spread out that we can only manage christenings and funerals now, but I do enjoy the small gatherings when we can get a few together. Have a great time. Chel x
