a chill in the air

5/23/13

As I sat down to have my quiet time and coffee this morning I actually had to pull out a throw blanket from the basket beside the couch.  The skies outside are quite gloomy and there is a definite chill in the air....I am loving it!  After our stretch of 90 plus degree weather this is definitely a welcome relief.

You know what else I am loving right now?  Life...

My creative brain has been on overdrive.  I have spent days holed up in my craft studio behind the sewing machine, cutting out pretty paper, ribbons and lace, putting paint down on canvas and words down on paper.  I know these spurts don't last forever so I am enjoying every moment of it.

Now you know why I have been such a sporadic blogger lately.  Heading into my second year of retirement I finally feel like I have a direction for my life.  I have a couple things in the works that I can't share with you yet but I really feel God moving and guiding me in them.  It is amazing how He positions us just where we need to be when He wants to use us, all the while allowing us to work through life experiences and hone our talents.

I have no idea what it all means just yet (the details are His) or where I am heading but I am excited to see where it all leads.

What about you?  What's been keeping you busy lately?

xo, Patty

  1. Good Morning from Northern CA Patty, We had to start a fire in the wood stove yesterday morning. Outside it was 44 degrees, much colder than normal for this time of year. We're loving it.

  2. It's chilly here in So. Cal. too - loving it before the heat blast of summer!

  3. It's been awful here in England. We have sunshine one minute then an awful easterly wind followed by torrential rain and sleet. Looks like we won't have a summer again. Never mind, the heating is on and I have a nice cup of tea! Take care. Chel x

  5. The sun is shining but my little electric heater is purring away beside me as I write. A bit chilly here, too.
I love it when those creative bursts come - I wish they could be sustained. Enjoy creating and know that God is directing your paths.

  10. Isn't it interesting to see what the Lord has in store for us - especially when we are least expecting it?

    Have a great weekend.

  11. First I have to tell you how I love your table scape, the chickens, coffee can lamp, ahhhh.
We finally got some nice weather, it had been pretty cold here also (Grand Junction, CO, close to UT border). Boom now we have very windy but nice warm days. Had to turn cooler on. I love having doors and windows open for a few weeks before Summer but don't think that's going to happen this year, ah well, it is what it is, nothing we can do about it.
I tend to create in spurts, then a cooling off period then it's back. Guess God thinks my old brain/body needs a rest in between spurts, that's ok, not going anywhere.
We just kind of take the day and do whatever. We don't really make plans, just let the day tell us what we're gonna do.
Today I've been putting burlap valances on white back
ground black window pane curtains. They're old but wanted something light after having heavy curtains for Winter. Had the valances just pinned on for few days to see if I'd like them that way or not. Just used stick on tape to put valances on so when I don't want them that way I can change it.
I usually change rugs and curtains in living room in spring also. Winter was pretty harsh here so I like to lighten things up all over house.

  12. It is interesting how life's energy and creativeness ebbs and flows isn't it. Glad you are feeling better about "things". Looking forward to hearing about your new adventures.

  16. Hello, how exciting. Looking forward to hear what God has in store for you. I am flat out in bed these days, years are ticking by and l am fretting because my illness has worsened and l can't see any sign of Gods plan. Someone once said that life is like a big puzzle. We only get a piece at a time, but God knows what the finished picture is meant to look like. Pam xx

  17. Good Afternoon Patty, I love retirement! All my friends asked me what I would do with my time when I finished work,as they said I would be bored at home, but my life is so full with my sewing and quilting. When my daughters were small, I would knit and sew their clothes, then time ticked by and they became teenagers and they did not want my offerings, so I stopped sewing and knitting, but when I retired, I had the time to discover these skills again.
Don't you feel wonderful when you have spurts of creativity, it is so exciting, but of course that spurt cannot go on forever as we would be worn out.
Patty, I have enjoyed my visit, and I have become a new follower.
I would like to invite you to visit me at Ivy, Phyllis and Me! where you would be made most welcome.
    Looking forward to your visit.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne
