monday morning perspective

What a difference a weekend makes.  I have had a few days to adjust, to make plans, and to start enjoying the quiet mornings in my newly emptied nest.

This rainy Monday morning brings with it a whole new perspective.

Don't think me callous but I have already started clearing out and planning a new guest room slash grandkid room in my daughters old bedroom.  My husband has started moving his musical instruments into my grandsons room which will now be his music room and I have already gutted and revamped the upstairs bathroom in my mind!

Thank you all for your wise and encouraging words.  My relationship with my daughter has already taken on a whole new dynamic and it's good to see her spreading her wings and caring for her little family.

This month is all about purging and organizing in anticipation of this new chapter in my life.  I have so many hopes and dreams still waiting to be lived out.  I hope you all will join me on the journey.

xo, Patty

  1. We can't wait to see what you'll do!

  2. It's always so traumatic to have a child leave the nest but as the saying goes - let them spread their wings. Can't wait to see what you do next.

    Have a great week!

  3. Not callous at all, A guest/grandkid room shows you still treasure their presence:>) Enjoy this new phase of your life, it's a good one too.

  4. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE AND A FUTURE." Jer 29:11 MAKING PLANS is all about believing in that future! xo God bless! ~Sally

  5. Patty ~ I wouldn't miss it for the world. We just have to see what exciting things the Lord has planned for you ~ God Bless ~!

  6. Good for you. Our 2 guest rooms are "the girls room" and "the boys room". You will enjoy their visits in a whole new way. :D

  7. Hi Patty, I'm very excited for you! I know you'll have so much fun revamping the rooms plus you may even find more spare time to pursue your interests. Love your garden, what beautiful flowers. WE can't begin to plant for several more weeks yet-snow could still visit us.
    Have a great afternoon.
    Hugs, Noreen

  8. Oh no....I was turning Gennifer's room into my sewing nest before she had even finished backing out of the driveway!!!
    xo Kris

  9. A change for the good and you will enjoy seeing that little family grow and prosper. Can't wait to see what you do. And they will be back to visit! Ann

  10. You're not callous at all! You're just moving on with the next phase of your life in a positive manner. I'll be going through the same thing starting July 1st, so we'll be on this ride together. :-) Are all those beautiful flowers and gardens yours?

  11. I so love the flowers and look forward to seeing summer blooms here. I 'm sure none of us think anything of the sort. You've done so well but it's difficult living with our adult children...there comes a time for them to move on...and it's just so nice to have your own space and just do what you want without having to take others into consideration. Enjoy!! Joan

  12. Lovely floral pics..Not callous at all..Perfectly natural....Before my husband died, I had taken over his closet and armoire mentally..glad everything is working out..

  13. Life changes and we have to change, too. You are doing a good thing by repurposing the rooms. Looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

  14. Patty,
Purging and organizing are two of my favorite things!!!
We had such a welcome rain here on the Prairie this morning!
Our Garden is greening up, but no blooms yet!!!
I adore gazing upon all that is blooming in your Garden already, dear friend!!!
EnJOY your empty nest. . .and all the upcoming visits from your daughter and grandson!!!

    Here's what's blooming here....Too early for flowers..

  16. So happy for you sweet Patty!!! :D
