thrift store finds

I got a call from my sister-in-law a couple of weeks ago telling me that she spotted my much sought after Radio Flyer Wagon at the local thrift store for $24.95.  I have been on the look out for one to fill with flowers for quite some time but the ones I've found in antique stores have had a price tag closer to $80.00.

Unfortunately she didn't have room in her car to pick it up for me and the thrift store was closing in 15 minutes, so I had to wait until the morning to head over there and snatch it up.  Luck was on my side and it was still there waiting for me when they opened the doors.

Never one to go into to a thrift store with out taking a look around, I pulled that wagon behind me looking for more treasures.

This particular store has a good selection of vintage sheets and bags stuffed with lace, buttons and zippers.  I found this beautiful yellow rose sheet and a bag full of assorted sizes and colors of zippers...108 zippers to be exact...for $3.95!

I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I know I'll find something fun.

Today the sun is shining and I am mid-way through my porch clean up.  I am rearranging things out there and I hope to have some pictures to share this week.

Enjoy your Monday!

xo, Patty

  5. Good morning.
I have ours on the deck. It was passed along to us from a favorite aunt. That was a terrific find. How interesting that Greece doesn't have thrift stores.

  7. So glad you finally got your wagon. I swear my mom had those sheets with the yellow roses when I was younger. Love the older sheets. Made so much nicer than todays.

  17. I can see you with a big smile pulling the wagon. As proud as a 4 year old. But the zippers, I don't know what you'll find to do with them.

  18. The Radio Flyer is a fab find. I love sewing notions too but I do not sew. I got a great galvanized tub with handle at a thrift today for three dollars and a queen set of sheets. I went there to donate and then I buy. That is what happens:-0

  20. I love your wagon. I had no idea they were going for so much. Mine is not in that good of shape. The wheels are all broken, and hubby is looking for new ones today, but I only paid 5.00 for it many years ago and bought it at a swap to carry my goodies. The kids pulled it around for years and for the last couple of yrs it has been in my garden filled with petunias.

I think I did post my condolances for you dear Dad, and my thoughts and prayers have been with you.
His pail in your garden with sweet flowers is such a good rememberance to keep.
Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter, Patty.
    XO

  24. Such a pretty garden! Thanks for the great idea. I've got my daughters' RadioFlyer wagon from when they were little -- missing two wheels. Everyone has tried to convince me to throw it out. I think I'll add it to my garden!
    Thanks!

  25. What a pretty garden! Thanks for the idea. I still have my daughters' RadioFlyer wagon from 15 years ago -- minus two wheels. Everyone has tried to convince me to get rid of it, but I couldn't. Now I think it will go into my garden! Thank you!
