GALLERY WALL INSPIRATION

For the longest time I have been trying to figure out what to do with the wall space at the end of our living room where it meets the sliding glass door.  It is an odd area where two walls meet to form a corner.  It's basically dead space with no real purpose but since it's visible as you enter the room I want whatever I hang there to be eye catching.  I've tried several different options already but haven't been ecstatic with any of them.

I love a good gallery wall and am thinking a gallery grouping might be perfect there.  With all the
great  examples for gallery walls out there I've put together quite a collection on my pinterest board, "Gallery Wall Crushing". to get me inspired.

An eclectic look would be in perfect keeping with the granny cottage, bohemian vibe I have going on in our living room already.  Something like the inspiration photo above with it's bold colors and over size artwork or even this one that incorporates a corner and some funky lighting below.

I know I want to have a lot of color and texture...

I want it to be a mixture of thrift store oil paintings and original artwork...

And I want it to be something that grows as we grow, something that can be edited as my mood and whims change, something fun and something that doesn't take itself too seriously.

I already have a couple of gallery style walls going in our dining room  with gathered plates...

Can you tell I'm a big fan of gallery walls?   I love the personal sense of style they bring to any room and I like that you can start one with cast offs from other rooms and pretty wall decor that you've been collecting over the years.  As long as you love what your incorporating, you can use it on a gallery wall.  There truly is no rhyme of reason other than they strike your fancy and look good grouped together because of subject or color.

This style wall grouping has been around for a long time and I think it will be around for a long time to come.  What about you?  Are you a fan of gallery walls?

  1. I'm a big fan too! We have three now including one that is just in the works. It's so much fun to put those things together and change them with seasons or whims. I love your inspiration photos.

  2. Patty, I love those too. Your entry wall is looking good. The frame colors are all in the bag hanging near by. I have a gallery wall in my tiny little bathroom. :) If you redo the corner area let us see what all you do please. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Not sure I'm a fan or not.. it always seems too busy to me.. but I do LOVE yours with the colors that match your hanging quilted bag! I do like a wall with other things besides just photos.. adds some interest, and a pretty plate thrown in here and there. I did have somewhat of a "photo wall" at my other house, with all family pictures, which I liked very much. Here's a question: talking of decorating again, and walls, what ever happened to your foyer that you were making over? I remember a post with some choices you were going for, but I don't remember ever seeing your final makeover! Did I miss it somehow? I looked back at your posts way back to last October but didn't see it. Can you direct me to the post where you had your final reveal? Thanks! Marilyn
