My sister flew back to Houston earlier this week and my life seems to be settling in to a normal pace once again. She was here a full two weeks this time and what a jam packed time it was. I think she hit just about everything Southern California has to offer.
We started out in the mountains, spent a day at an amusement park, she and my mom took a drive up the coast to Monterey, we spent a couple of days at the beach and of course, ate plenty of real Mexican food and drank a couple of margaritas along the way.
I'm sure she went home pretty much exhausted but full of family and good memories.
I have been busy trying to catch up with housework and laundry all week. (Funny, isn't that how most vacations end?)
Can you believe we are midway through summer? On the one hand I'm wondering where the time went and on the other hand, counting the days until fall weather arrives.
This pretty rooster canvas is a result of a day in my studio. I headed in there for a little decompression time and came out with a few new items for the shop which will be reopening fully stocked soon.
Okay now it's your turn. How is your summer going?
xo, Patty

Summer seems like it is just arriving on the coast. Where others are complaining of the heat, we are just beginning to have sunny days, all day. I am so glad I have retired because normally at this time in July I would be thinking about lesson plans and gathering things for my classroom. Since I don't have to go back to school, I can enjoy the sunny day, do the laundry, do the gardening and cleaning, but still have time in my creative space for a few projects.
ReplyDeleteAs a new mommy... It's all new!!! It's wonderful, fun, crazy and hard at times but we're enjoying being outside when the humidity isn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in blog land for a while to see your blog's new look, and I love it. So cheery and so you!
Blessings,
Leslie
I'm glad you had a fun filled busy two weeks with your sister. My sister came home last summer for 3 weeks after being away for 25 years and we went non stop the whole time. What fun! I love this canvas you did. It's really beautiful. Enjoy the rest of the summer. Blessings, Pamela
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear you had such a nice time with your mom and sister! You're probably ready for a little rest and relaxation now! :) I can't believe summer is on it's way out! ;)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,

Wow, that is one busy visit! Sounds like you had a fantastic time though. Love the rooster canvas you made. Doesn't it feel wonderful to escape and recharge doing something you truly love?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had lots of fun with your sister, Patty. Your canvas is terrific, full of colour and optimism! I'm a bit wilted in the summer heat, but am reminding myself to appreciate each season.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the upcoming weekend and I'll look forward to more of your creative projects.

Glad you had fun with your sister and family! I know the feeling though, of trying to do all of that catching up!! No fun. Your newest canvas is darling! I love it. What size is it? What is the cost?
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful, fun, whimsical, and creative!
My summer has been going by way too fast. But then again, I love that we are close to te Fall!!

Hated to have to miss today. Noah goes to school on Aug 03, then I am available again.
Oh that roo picture is gorgeous. You are so talented. I always enjoy our time together. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good time with your sister. Having fun does make the time fly by. Love your rooster canvas. How did you do it? Did you paint it or do some treatment with a print. Either way, it is great.
ReplyDeleteSummer is going quickly here. Lots of activities for the kids and tons of sewing for me. I'm thankful for the extra income, but sometimes just want to sew for fun.
It's been really hot here, so I just stay in and sew. My poor garden.
How lovely to have your sister to visit. Summer is just grand here in the UK at the moment we've had wall to wall sunshine for the past 2 weeks with no sign of it letting up. Such a difference from the grey soggy recent summers ... Sarah x
ReplyDeletePatty,

Sounds like you had a wonderful time with your sister. My brother is coming to visit me in August for a week, I haven't seen him or my sister in law in 7 years. It's only a week but I treasure any time we get together. I LOVE the roo..
