I have a corner in the living room next to the television that is really hard to fill. I placed a recovered bench there but I knew it needed a little height to balance out the fireplace on the other side.
So when my sweet sister in law gave me this old pepsi crate for Christmas I knew it would be perfect on top of the bench in that corner. But what to put into it?
I knew the spot needed some color, so I gathered a few bright clay pots from outside, teal blue, bright yellow, cornflower blue and gave them a good scrubbing. Then I purchased some houseplants from my local garden center and potted them up.
I love the organic feel of it...
and I love that I had the pots outside so the only thing it cost me was for the new houseplants.
Almost all the pots, that is. This gorgeous piece of painted pottery jumped into my cart and I didn't have the heart to leave her behind.
Definitely worth the splurge.
So tell me, what was the last thing you splurged on? And was it worth it?
I don't suppose you need me to tell me that you are worth it!
xo, Patty
I'm joining Brenda over at Cozy Little House for Tweak it Tuesday...
How very nice of that pot to jump in your cart! It just knew it would tie everything together for you nicely!
ReplyDeleteA really nice and cheerful gathering of flower pots, particularly the multicoloured one. Can understand you not wanting to leave it behind :-). I rearly buy anything...that is except wool and fabrique...last week a bundle of vintage from the seventies. Boy was that worth it :-)!! Pam x
ReplyDeleteLOVE that pot Patty -- great splurge. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the color! Um -- most recent thing I've splurged on -- ordering the Blog2print have your blog printed up as a book (currently they have a 15% off special) to have some of my blogposts printed up. 'cause, you know it just isn't really REAL if you can't hold it in your hands and turn pages.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bright and cherry splurge! I haven't splurged on myself for a while, so maybe it is time!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty post and plants. I have not splurged in forever, would like a new camera lens but not in the budget right now. Beautiful pics:)
ReplyDeleteI splurged just yesterday on a beautiful ceramic with a basket on his back to put flowers in. It just yelled "Spring" and "Buy Me". I couldn't resist. LOL

ReplyDeletelove the plants and that pot is awesome!!!! lets see...last thing I splurged on???? how about a sundae from 31 flavors LOLOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteFun!I like the idea of putting all the little pots together! My last splurge was a couple of Japanese waters colors that I just posted about today...actually they were a great flea market find! Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteI love the multicolored pot. We actually splurged on 2 of those, in size gigantic. ;) They are on our front porch on either side of the front door. I am a symmetrical person so I would have loved 2 of the same but my husband said I could pick only one and he wanted to pick the other. Mine is mainly oranges and yellows, with a few of the other colors. His is mostly blue and red. Turns out they look awesome together. As long as the plants are the same. ;) Your pots in your little spot look awesome.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Love the colors. What a cool Christmas present you got! My last splurge was this weekend at a casino for date night. I lost $200 but had a fun time with my husband!

Your plants look so pretty. I love the bright colored pots. I just splurged on a beautiful necklace from Lisa Leonard. I just posted about it if you care to come over and take a look!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Patty! I need to get some more plants for the inside of my house. That painted pot is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy last splurge? Hmmmmm, let's see.....I think it was new kitchen knives right before Christmas. I don't buy things for myself when it is holiday shopping time, so that was a real splurge!
xo Kris
Love all the color!! I some times have the same problem with things hopping into my cart and saying "take me home". I have a sign on my wall that says, In the end it was worth it! That's my motto for splurges or other things I do on a spur of a moment!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
I usually have second thoughts about those things that jump into my cart. I end up putting back 90% of those items, which does drive Rick nuts. I think my last splurge would be a few books from Costco. I've been on a reading kick lately. I pass them along to the Seniors at the center, so they're not too much of an indulgence just for myself.
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with this and I too love that hand painted pot! I dont think I would have left it behind either! .. My splurge was today for a whole 9 dollars :) I hit a new Salvation Army thrift shop here in town. Could have bought more but I was good and restrained myself.. how unusual for me.. I have a doctor appt on Thursday so yep, it's because Im sick.. LOL!
