so this is fall, really?

We are really going to have to use our imaginations on this one, trust me.  For what seems like the 100th day in a row we are in the triple digits.  So this is fall, really?


I feel like my fall decor is mocking me...


I don't dare force autumn onto the porch as I am sure my neighbors might have me committed.


The weatherman and his Doppler radar assures me the fall like temperatures are out there...somewhere.

Not here...but somewhere.


That's okay, I can be patient.  I mean it's not like I have a choice. So yes really, this is fall and boy, have I been waiting for you.


We are planning a quick trip to the mountains tomorrow where hopefully, we will feel a bit of a chill in the air.  What about you?  Anything special planned for this first fall weekend?

    The cat in the pumpkin is adorable and the whole mantel says cooler temps are coming! We already have them here so I'll be bringing plants indoors and raking leaves this weekend. ~ Maureen

    we are having cooler temps around here. so it is just lovely knowing that FALL is here & coming to our doorsteps. so happy about that. yipppee!! i sure hope it will arrive to your neck of the woods soon. maybe if you took it to your front door others would follow suit & join in with the FALL fun. be brave & start the fun!! big hugs.     Hi Patty, Once our new grandson arrives, we are planning on heading to the mts to see the colors. Here in Colorado it is cooler and fall is in the air. I love your candle stand and your pitchers are beautiful as well; actually all your decorations are fantastic.

    It's been down-right chilly here at night.
    So much so, that I just might light a fire tonight, to take the chill off.

    Patty - I didn't think we'd ever get to fall either, but we have. The temps finally have lowered into the 90's and we think it's fall. LOL

    I love how you have done up your mantel, very sweet! You have the cutest pumpkins! We have been so lucky with temps in the 60's and today a bit of rain...finally! I have a feeling it is only temporary, we usually don't get cold in Chicago until November. I hope to get my fall decor up next week!

    It has cooled off here in Ontario and YES we are feeling fall. this weekend, it's going to rain, rain, rain, so even though it is going to rain, I must go to the annual treasure hunt at Heritage Village in town. I may get wet, but I may find some treasures too ;-)

    I put my Halloween decoration out in hopes it might cool down, it hasnt....hopefully it will be nice up in the mountains for you, I might have to take a ride up there too, Im tired of sweating!!!!

    Love your mantle decor! "Mr.Ed" and I purchased our first pumpkin for the front porch yesterday...and we, too, are preparing for our annual vacation!!! Warm today, but a crispness in our air as I watered plants this evening! Enjoy your trip to the mountains!

    You've got a good start on your decorating. It's still near 100 here too, and I just can't get in the fall mood. I got a few things out and bought pumpkins today. It's been hard to find pumpkins too. Enjoy your time in the mountains. We will just tough it out tomorrow in a hot sweaty gym watching volleyball and a noon soccor game. I love your little retro Halloween signs.

    We still have heat, but the nights have been cooling down. I do love that. It's too warm to add fall colors around the house. It just doesn't feel right and so I wait until mid October. Have fun up in the mountains. I think we're staying home this weekend and getting back to our deck project. I hope to start cutting out some fabric for another tote. I found some beautiful fabric at JoAnn's yesterday. It's already washed and dried, but not ironed....

    It's been very cool in northern IL these past few days. Just got back from a couple of small towns in Wisconsin - my husband and I were up there for an overnight getaway. We'll be going to church in the morning, but I think I'll start decorating the porch for fall tomorrow afternoon. Need to go shopping for some pumpkins and gourds!

    I know how you feel. We're still experiencing temps in the mid 90s even though we had a touch of fall here and there over the last several weeks. But not enough to get excited about it being fall. I am SO ready for it to be here and, slowly but surely, I'm getting out my decorations. Maybe the fall-like weather will come if I do so, don't you think? Enjoy your time in the mountains...I'm envious ;)

    Hi Patty! Your fall mantle is adorable! I love the vintage graphics! It has turned COLD here in the midwest! Nights dipping down to low 30's...brrrr! Skipped right from blazing hot to freezing....crazy!! I think after tonight we will go back to being more fall-like weather...which will be GOOD! I LOVE FALL and don't want to skip it! :) we are all going 2 the apple orchard after church today! A favorite family tradition!! :)
