fresh flowers

9/6/12

My favorite four year old boy decided I needed some fresh flowers in my vase because the old ones were all crunchy.   So with a little searching (and help with the pruning shears) he found a couple of roses in the garden to cut and bring inside.

He has such a sweet heart and loves to surprise the special people in his life with their favorite things.  For his pop-pop he will ask to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies, for his mommy he will paint a picture and while we were visiting my mom (his great grandma) last week he insisted we cut her some flowers so that when she looked at them, she would think of him.

As for me, he knows the quickest way to my heart is always through the garden.

He's right.  That's why when I spotted this pretty cup from Anthrpologie on Jen's blog months ago, I knew it would someday make it's way into my online shopping cart.

Pretty cute, huh?  It was the perfect indulgence and the final accent for my dining room.  I can't wait for the weather to cool a bit so that I can whip up a batch of scones, brew up some tea, curl under a quilt and fritter the day a way.  Never been much of a fritterer but it does sound wonderful...

Now it's your turn, what would your perfect frittering day be?

xo, Patty

  3. What a dear little boy! He's a keeper!!!! My idea of a fritter-away day is to have a good cup of Starbucks, a good book and the grandkids spread out on the floor in front of me watching a movie- xo Diana

  6. Patty, I was trying to love the story but seriously distracted by that gorgeous cup! No seriously, he sounds precious. Little boys are so sweet. I miss when mine were little...always bringing flowers or bugs. :)

  7. Grandsons are the best. That cup is deliciously cute. I especially love the yellow flower within the handle. Our Conner called me yesterday to tell me he was on his way to his first day of first grade. Oh so sweet.

Magazines, a quilt, feet up, coffee or tea, and a sweet romantic comedy on TV. You've Got Mail is my favorite movie that I could watch again and again.

  8. Patty,
I'm not a fritterer either, but sometimes I dream of it.
I would either sit in the hammock swing in warm weather, or inside with a quilt in cold weather, with a Grace Livingston Hill book and an endless stream of Hershey's kisses or milk duds to consume. Or peruse an Old House magazine.
Maybe some coffee or tea to go with the chocolate.

  13. What a sweetie that grandson is!! Oh to fritter. I tried to last night. I sat down with my crocheting in a comfy chair outside. Feet up relaxing and then that brain kicked and reminded me of several things I should be doing. So that fritter didn't last long. My mother always said I wasn't a good sitter!

  17. What a sweet little grandson you have there.
A pure and joyful hearted little guy :)

My perfect way to fritter away the day, would be curled up under a blanket, reading a good book. Outside, the snow would be falling, and inside the fireplace would be crackling away :)

  25. How sweet your little grandson is. There is nothing sweeter than when they want to give you something, no matter what it is, it means something.
Love your cup and it fits right in with your decor redo. I have never been to Anthrpologie and am afraid to. I might see something I NEED.
I'm not much of a fritterer either, but you know how I love just watching my kids play or playing with them. Lately some time spent just listening to my Jr.Hi granddaughter talk to me about school, volleyball and her friends...love that.
