just a little Christmas

12/18/14

Since December is halfway gone I thought it might be a good idea to show you a little bit of my dining room Christmas decor before it's time to take it all down.

All the changes I made in the cottage over the last few months really brightened up my usually traditional decorations.  By the time I realized I could use a few new things, the stores were sold out.

I think next year instead of complaining about how quickly the Christmas decoration start showing up I  better start shopping for them.  By the time December rolls around the shelves were looking a little bare.

Most of what I put out I've had for years.  Just seeing it against a white backdrop made it all seem new again.

My six year old grandson loves Christmas, yes for the presents, but also for the music and the decorations.  Just wait till I show you our tree this year.  He chose it on the lot and then decorated it once I hung the lights.  I promise I only moved one or two things he put on...really.

I am off to buy that one last gift and then I hope to finish up the last of the wrapping this afternoon.  I promised a certain little boy that we could start our baking after he gets out of school today and I know he'll hold me to it.  We have five different cookies to make so I'm sure the flour will be flying!

I'm thinking it might be a little too early to start baking but the next few days are full of festivities so I will probably end up freezing a few things.  What about you?  What will you be baking this year?

Have a wonderful Thursday!

xo, Patty

  3. So pretty! I've waited a little too long before too. One year I went to Hobby Lobby to buy ribbon and it was gone. That was a shocker! I've been collecting things for years too because we've been married a long time. I try to use things differently each year...makes it feel new. :)

  5. It all looks so festive and pretty! I have begun to think a white backdrop is actually the best thing for those of us who love color,it makes our accessories really pop. How fun to have a little one to bake with! I'm so busy sewing a last minute gift I don't know if I'll have time to bake anything!

  8. Patty,
I love your Christmas decorations against the white of your cabinet and in your kitchen, dear friend!!!
Making memories while you're baking cookies. . .sounds delightful, indeed!
"Mr. Ed" and I did the bulk of our baking for the Church Bake $ale this year.
A few homemade cookies to share with my 92 1/2 year old Dad!!!
Time to "wrap" things up and begin the celebration of Christmas!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  9. Hi Patty, Love your kitchen shelving (and those pretty green and blue Mason jars!) and your hutch. Everything looks pretty. For Christmas baking, I made peanut brittle, toffee, Scotcharoos (my grandson requested these), and cut out sugar cookies. Still planned: Spritz cookies, peanut butter fudge, peanut butter blossoms, and chex mix. I'll also be making a chocolate pecan pie, apple pie, and French silk pie. (I'm gaining weight just thinking about it!!!)
Patty, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
