HOW TO PUT TOGETHER A GIFT BASKET - creatively inspired

8/11/17

I love putting together gift baskets for friends birthdays or other special occasions.  They are so easy to tailor make just for the individual and it's easy to tuck in a couple of handmade items which is something I love to include.

I will usually start with a theme for the basket and then start shopping from there.  Once I have the
what starting point, it's pretty easy to find something to gather it all into.  Baskets and bowls are some of my favorites and you can usually find one pretty inexpensively at a thrift store.

I find picking out the container first helps me to know how much I'll need to fill it up nicely.  For the basket I put together here I went with a coffee theme and because the basket was relatively small I knew that besides a mug I would need to fill it with little individually wrapped items, so I headed to Cost Plus to start shopping.

Finding the actual coffee cup was easy because I love the Pioneer Woman's collection at Walmart and I knew I'd find one there that I liked and I did.  I added a couple of mini bunting banners and a mug rug from my shop.

Actually assembling the basket is the easy part.  I think of it kind of like a jigsaw puzzle finding just the right place for each little item and then finishing it off with a pretty bow.

I have done baskets with baking, reading, gardening, journaling and craft themes and they were all well received.  I'd love to know if you're a fan of gift baskets and what are some kinds you have either received or given away.  I'm always up for a few new ideas!

I put together a video tutorial for how to put together a coffee gift basket if you'd like to take a look.  I'd love for you to subscribe to my channel and join in on the conversation because life isn't about perfection, it's about connection.

  1. Patty, First I must tell how I am loving your videos. I just want to be your neighbor. LOL. You make so many things fun. I loved the basket...so many cute things. I have made coffee baskets and also dinner night baskets and movie night baskets. I also get the baskets at yard sales or goodwill. I always wipe them down with a disinfectant cloth. I have used tea towels in the dinner baskets and small fleece throws in the movie baskets. I know your friend is going to love this wonderful coffee basket. Wishing you a great weekend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
