FINDING YOUR PURPOSE - STEPPING OUT IN FAITH

8/21/17

Reclaiming, striving, working, living, learning, loving, becoming...these are the words that resonate through my head in the middle of the night as I pray and wonder what my message is.  What call to action do I feel led to proclaim?

You see, it is my belief that we all have a purpose.  We all have a message to share.  We are all here as ambassadors of God.  But knowing that in my head and walking it out in my heart are two totally different things.

Given the state of our world I believe the call we have as women to love, nurture, teach and lead by
godly example those within our sphere of influence is more important than ever.  That, I feel is my calling.  Deep down I know it always has been.

But what does that look like?

How do I convince women that being a lover of home is as worthy a calling as any other?

How do I share with those who have the desire, skill and God given calling to be out in the workforce, that it's also okay to take that same passion and create homes that are filled with peace and order and love, all the while still following your dreams?  Not only is it okay but it's also necessary and a great example to our families once we find that all elusive balance.

How do I remind women who work at home that there is value in that and a tremendous sense of purpose and satisfaction when we do the home keeping gig well.

How do we reclaim our homes so that to spite what happens in the world we provide a safe place to return to?

How?  We live our lives in a way that reflects the love of Christ.  We do what is right, we love mercy and we walk humbly (Micah 6:8) and we teach others to do the same.

For me that means this blog and my YouTube channel..that is my platform.  The message may not suit everyone but it will speak loudly to the heart of others.

While the words of this post came easily enough, the courage to hit the publish button did not.  If you're reading this, then I did the brave thing.  I hope you join me on this journey and that you'll speak lovingly when I stray and encourage me when I lose steam.

I'd love to have you join me over on YouTube where I share more of my cottage style in the home and garden.  Here's the link, Lemon Lane Cottage.

  4. Patty, keep up the good work the Lord has called you to do! I certainly could use some encouragement and motivation to be a better "keeper of the home"
I want to decorate for fall and make my home happy and pretty and cozy ...... but first I have to clean and declutter and that is where I am slacking. It is much more fun to dream and plan and buy and look at pretty fall home tours than to actually put in the hard work to accomplish it!

  6. Patty, I know this is an old post, but I love it! You inspire me to keep going and continue to place value on my home and creativity. By living out your purpose with passion, you're inspiring others who question if we should keep working on ours (or not). Thank you!
