fresh produce - # 3

6/15/15

When I formed my list of things I wanted to do after I retired I noticed quite a few of them really took very little effort to accomplish.  I am not the climb Mt. Everest kind of girl but lean more toward creating a beautiful life right where you are.

Number three on the list is to buy my fruits and vegetables at the local produce market.  When I worked adding this extra trip every couple of days was not practical, but now that I am a stay at home wife stopping off and perusing the aisles for what's in season (right now it's fresh apricots, peaches, nectarines, tomatoes and crisp, sweet cucumbers) is not only worth the extra effort but very enjoyable and the produce is so much better tasting.

I am starting to take note of what's in stock when so that when I move onto number four on my list, learn to cook healthier meals, I will be ready.

Now it's your turn.  What little thing on your wanting to do/change list have you implemented this week?

xo, Patty

  1. That's a great goal and one that I stick to also.

I confess that my lists are usually more in the "need to" rather than "want to" category. Not because there's not time but I just don't think that way enough. Need to work on that.

  2. Ok, you have to know you are spurring me on to more accountability with these posts! I have been telling myself I will exercise more and I haven't done it. Tonight I'm shopping for some things I need to get started. Thanks for the kick in the pants!

  3. It would be SO NICE to be able to walk to a produce market... "just down the street"! I have always dreamed of being able to do that, but somehow, always seem to live far from town. The one change I'm trying to do right now, is live more in the moment, and not always thinking ahead to "how much better it will be when I get to that place in my life that I want"..... trying not to let the days slip by without doing a little living in the here and now, and just enjoying the day for what it is. We are renting a house, and I SO want to buy again and I find myself only looking ahead to what it will be like to have my own house again.. and not appreciating what I have right here and now... a very cute little rental with lots of potential.. so if I had to stay here, it's not so bad and I could make in mine in many more ways than I have. Also trying to be more patient, and not wishing my life away for that "perfect place".

  4. I won't know what will change yet today, until I go check on the garden(s). We've been getting mass amounts of rain here, and it's delaying all of our outdoor work. It's raining already this morning, so just checking the garden is delayed. Or canning. Guess it's inside work today.
