looking up

5/29/15

Thank you all for your kind words on my last post.  It was a tough couple of weeks but they have been necessary in order to move on in truth.  It is so easy to put a band aid on a situation requiring surgery but as we all know a band aid will only hold back the flow for so long.

When ever I am feeling overwhelmed my heart always seeks out God's presence in my current situation and more often than not I turn to Proverbs for the wisdom I am seeking.  (Since there are 31 proverbs there is one for every day of the month, so it always works out.  God is kind of amazing like that.)  I will usually just take the day of the month and head straight for that corresponding chapter and I am never disappointed with what I find there and with the specific message God has for me.

"We can make our own plans but the Lord determines our steps."  Proverbs 16:9

My take away given my current situation is this, I can steamroll my plans through but if it is not God's ultimate will, it ain't going to happen.  Slow down and seek God's heart in the matter.

So now it's time to step back, reassess and move forward with the right focus.  I am ready to seek and find all the joy He has in store for me.  What about you?

Happy Friday, my friends.

xo, Patty

  5. You're post is so timely. Yes, retreat. We retreat in loveliness. Retreat into God's arms and the beauty around us. Retreat.

  6. What a pretty journal... and a beautiful thought! Isn't it good to know that no matter what our plans are... His plans are perfect!?!
I love the steam rolling analogy.

  7. Patty, All my life when things got so tough, I thought I could never make it through ...my God has helped me. There's been days where I have prayed all day long. Some times that's what it takes. I am sending you some mommy hugs, not to insult your own mommy, no way. I just care. xoxo, Susie

  8. How good that Proverbs has 31 chapters, I had not thought of that. I am going to read Proverbs 29 today. Thanks for the idea.

  9. Your post today speaks to me...... I'm having trouble making a decision... and it seems that I am pushing awfully hard to get what I want... and it doesn't seem to happen... but I keep pushing... and pushing..... and I like your word, steamrolling! I think I need to also step back because I don't think God wants to happen what I want to happen! It's hard to let something go when you want it so much... but as the saying goes (and I need to abide by it).... when you feel like you are rowing upstream, let go and let yourself be carried down with the current... and it will lead you to where you are meant to go. Sometimes it's hard to listen to that advice! You could have been speaking to me when you wrote this post.

  10. (((Patty))))

You are such a beautiful soul.
This is so true what you shared:
"We can make our own plans but the Lord determines our steps." Proverbs 16:9

Sometimes the steps on the path are few to get us to where we want and now need to be and sometimes they are many. I am walking with you in heart and spirit and know that you are dearly loved.

    Always,
    Kim
