a new year...a new post

1/3/17

Well hello there.  To say I had no intention of going so long without posting would be an understatement.  If you are still checking in on blogs in general and my blog in particular than a very Happy New Year to you!

You'd think I'd be full of tales of my exploits while I was MIA but no such luck.  Let's just say that
2016 was one heck of a ride and I am sure glad I wasn't the one in charge of the ups and downs that flew my way.

But 2017 is here and that means a fresh start, with new hope and big dreams.  That's the best thing about being an eternal optimist...no matter what life throws at you, there is always tomorrow.

I started off the new year by cleaning out my craft studio (which I moved once again) and it feels so good to hunker down in the chill of winter with all this color surrounding me.  I have been working on project bags and have taken up the needle arts once again.  Just a bit of crochet and embroidery work plus a renewed mission to learn to knit...again.

My stash of yarn has grown quicker than my learning curve but that should come as no surprise to anyone who creates anything.  I will be sharing what I have on my hooks and needles in the days ahead.

Okay, now it's your turn.  What's been happening with you?

xo, Patty

  1. Hi Patty, I have missed you. I am so glad you are well and back to blogging. Can't wait to see what you have made with yarn. It's been years since I did any crocheting. I wonder if I can remember how. LOL. Hope you show us some nice things. Blessings to you sweet girl, xoxo, Susie

  2. I love the optimistic spirit you've shared in this post. My year has flown by with mostly family obligations. I no longer blog myself, but I sure do enjoy reading them.

  4. I always love your creativity. Glad to see you back in the craft room. I am determined to be in my sewing room more in 2017. Life will always have its interruptions and troubles, so I have to just determine to make time to be in there. Tonight I made a dog box cover. Our Golden's box sits in the corner of our family room. Over Christmas break, I saw a cover in LLBean out of quilted material and I actually thought about purchasing one as it has been covered with a sheet. Tonight I went all out and whipped up a linen one to look a little nicer in the living room. My daughter said it was screaming for a monogram. We southern girls and our monograms.

Anyway, I am glad you blogged about your craft room. Instagram is great, but we want details:)

  5. Well, I'm so glad I see you on IG, so your blog is a bonus and a welcomed one. I was afraid you had given it up for good :)

I've started a new website, been busy with goal setting for the new year and waiting on granddaughter #2, who should have been here yesterday.

Otherwise, just enjoying all of your pretty colors and projects :)

    Happy New Year!

  8. Hi Patty! I've not blogged in a very long time... thought about it for an instant over the Christmas break, but said "Nah!" I have enjoyed finding you on IG ... that is my hang out nowadays. I do miss the blogs though- and from time to time I will sit down and play catch up on the reading. I loved your video and the still shots of your creative space! I'm inspired to get some organizing done in my space and set up for a "Me" place! It also doubles as my computer space... so let's say it's wrecked and needs drastic attention before I start back to school in a few weeks! Glad to see you posting-- looking forward to seeing your thread shares!

  9. I'm going to guess my 2016 went about the same as yours. I'm rather proud of myself for riding it out, always believing it was just a rough patch and all would be well in time. Things are on a better course now and I'm looking forward to the new year.
